I would love this. I played a lot of original OW and it was a fantastic game, despite the flaws like with Roadhogs hook.
I would be ok with this if it was a mode in arcade during free weekends or during events; so as not to detract from the main game. But if it was a game, or mode, you could access freely, I’d be worried about it splitting the player base.

I want a Soldier skin where he his voice line on ulting would be “Nostalgia Goggles activated”, because that’s what you’re experiencing yourself. At every point in the game - at every point in any game that features different heroes, to be fair - there is a meta that gets boring after a while, which is why there are always changes and additions. Let’s start with the fact that there is no “classic Overwatch” - there was a no-limits time, there were some crazy OP balances out there (mostly McCree), there were hardly any supports to choose from, and no matter where you would put yourself, the game would be incredibly stale. You want to go back to the original hero roster? Do you remember the supports back then? Mercy, Zen, Lucio. Which support main would want to play in this meta? People like to forget that the reason for the “Mercy main” trope was that there simply was no other option if you wanted to heal other players. So unless you want to play forever in a hell-hole of 1-0-5 comps, you won’t get happy with your ideas.
There will always be problems regarding hero balance and general comps; we have had Dive, now GOAT. This is because of the general balance of the game. So having some heroes who were OP is not an issue.
As for rose tinted glasses, I might be inclined to agree but back at the start, it was actually a great feeling to try and kill the Mercy before she resses her whole team. There was something about that particular moment that will forever stay with me.
Again, provided it’s not a mode that is always available (limiting it to events and free weekends), it really allows players to see how far the game has changed since it came out. Which, generally, I think is a nice idea. It’s also a little bit fresh for those weekends.
Nostalgia isn’t generally a bad thing; it’s when people want the game completely reversed because they only see the good things (Like the discussion around WoW Classic). Having this as a time limited option is not the same thing.
As an event - that’s a different discussion entirely. Something like the anniversary event where all the special game modes get rotated daily, but instead of the special game modes, they rotate different game stats throughout the ages.
Ultimately though, looking at that “petition”, OP seems to want a different game entirely. Criticising the necessity to swap heroes shows that they’d rather play CS instead of an actual hero shooter. Just another one-trick who doesn’t like any meta where their one-trick hero isn’t OP…
Yeah. OW is a game where hero swapping should be encouraged.

Jeff will tell you that you can easily create Overwatch Classic arcade mode in your client 
CC has been in the game since launch. It is a necessary part of gameplay to counter high-mobility heroes that would otherwise be uncontested in the meta. This is like suggesting they remove damage.
