Random 3FPS drop

I was at the end of round 1 of Hollywood, my game hits 3 FPS, (read from the FPS tracker), I apologize to my team and we lose the last point, second round starts, I pick Winston, the game freezes entirely, I’m at 0FPS now??
I get crashed to main menu, still at 0FPS can’t even close the game, I tab out, open task manager, and I notice a few things.

First of all, since images arn’t allowed anymore, my CPU usage is at 7%.
So why is Overwatch lagging if I’m using 7% of a quad core?
Secondly, Overwatch was using some 1,160,000 units of memory, I have 4gb of DDR3 RAM.

I put it down to a graphics card issue, one minor problem with that, er… if it was a graphics issue, wouldn’t I have the same issue with everything that uses my graphics drivers and card as a source, IE, the entire display should be lagging on every game I play and every program that uses flash or adobe or anything?

I’m not sure where this issue came from, I’ve been playing the game fine for 2 days, I just got back, and dropping out of gold into silver for something which is partially completely out of my control is not a good welcome back, I literally had to buy a new processor to play this because it’s so packed with rubbish now, all these unneeded effects and such, I don’t need to see clouds, chandlers and burning cars :frowning:

Summary, pretty sure this isn’t my cards fault, like at all, no other game has ever done this in the history of me owning this card, and I’ve played Ark:SE for literally 3 days straight no restarts or relogs.

What I want to know is this: Is this an issue which occurs a lot nowadays?
Is it likely to happen often / ever again?
Is there a chance it’s something on my end or even something on overwatch’s side, since the rest of the PC ran well enough to open task manager, take screenshots, paste screenshots, save screenshots etc.

Hello PRJCTPeachy,

Did you follow any specific steps to determine this? If so, could you please list everything you tried?
If you didn’t try any specific steps yet, please follow the advice provided here (including the steps in the advanced troubleshooting menu, if needed).

Should you notice no improvements whatsoever, please create a DxDiag and a MSInfo file, upload them to an external website (for example, Pastebin), and add the link to your reply. You might need to highlight the link and use the Preformatted text option (</>) before you can send your reply.

The way different programs use the resources available can vary a lot and not necessarily an issue affects all of them or all your system.

I am unaware of any specific bug related to this and I haven’t encountered it myself.

Hard to tell without knowing more about your system and the cause of the issue, but yes, even if the issue was caused by something minor, for example a third-party software that started an update while you were playing.
When it comes to technical issues, I always recommend spending some time to try and pin-point the cause of the problem.
