I’ve been constantly having random frame rate drops when playing overwatch 2. It does not happen to any other games on my laptop. The frame rate would be close to 144 for a second and then next second drop to around 20 or sometimes even 9 fps, and bounce back to 144 the next second. Some times the game even just freeze up for a few seconds and started moving again. I have tried reinstalling the game a couple of times, put it on my SSD, and even tried the “Reset In-Game Options”. None of the above seem to help with anything.
The only thing that seems to help temporarily is when this is happening, I quit the game and then wait for a couple minutes before reopening the game. And the frame rate will stay stable for a few minutes before starting to bounce again. My specs are Intel i7-9750H CPU @ 2.60GHz, GTX 1660 Ti 6G, 16GB ram, 144Hz monitor. GPU temperature when playing overwatch 2 is about 72 ~ 76 Celsius and CPU temperature is about 89~93. I am on fiber with the internet speed at around 130 Mbps constantly.
Another thing that has started happening since the Mirrorwatch update rolled out is that I would occasionally get a latency spike (the IND would remain at 23), which bump the latency up to around 700 ms and stay there throughout the entire match. The only way to reset it is to force quit the game and relaunch it. I have tried switching Internet, but unfortunately the only other option I have is a 14Mbps 4G cable that is provided by the apartment. It seems to be having the same issue.
I tested my latency while having this problem but everything seems to be okay. Since the latency is a new issue, I am hoping it will just go away soon on its own. But the constant frame rate jumps really make the game unplayable. Please help!
