I ran into premade of boosters recently, advertising their services in chat. I must say it got me quite mad, and I’m not sure if this is allowed. (For some reason I can’t add screenshots, so I put them on imgur: /a/YaRS4BS )
So, is this allowed or should I report all three of them?

you can’t punish people for grouping up.
Boosting is a waste of time, effort and possibly money tho. What can a bronze player achieve in masters, other than having a moral devastating losing streak of 50 games back to bronze?

The thing he will take 5x50 players with him on that losing streak, ruining the game for 250 people trying to climb, so yeah boosting is a huge problem

What I’m saying there is that I can’t imagine a lot of people doing that, simply because it doesn’t make sense - so it can’t be a huge issue. Maybe some people just want that shiny ingame icon at their name, but they unlikely be that stupid, start queing with their fake rank and waste all the boosting effort to a long losing streak back to their proper place.
You underestimate the need for social status and the silly ways people try to achieve that. Once some is boosted to masters, that’s their season peak and if they end the season there, they can brag to their friends that they’re masters forever.
They most likely won’t play competitive on that account again. But the badge is what they want out of the way. Nobody can ever verify they got boosted anyway, at least as far as they think.
Winning gets them in to higher ranks, where they will then be carried. But also it gets them comp points to buy skins with.

in higher ranks winning gives you the same amount of comp points as in lower ranks, and no you won’t be carried forever, in the long run you’ll derank back to where you belong.
Right? But before then. People will earn more comp points than at lower ranks. And actually, the problem with Comp ranking is that individual performance is not utilized as a factor.
So most of the time you can be a player who is of higher skill but bad teammates hold you back. This has been a problem with Day 1 of Overwatch Competitive. Deranking back to where they “belong” is an interesting statement. Because “belong” is relative after being boosted.
They might get ranked low as say a broncs, with other players. But after being boosted might hold their own fine at silver when playing with silver players.

no its not. You belong where you would rank from your own performance.
nope, you would go down in rank, since your team always plays 5,5v6, since you play against people way above your true rank. You won’t and can’t be carried forever, in the long run you drag your team down and so lose more matches than you’d win.
REPORTABLE. This is not allowed. You mess with the system and is ilegal to be paid for it.

No, a single person cannot carry a whole team. Yet you assume it’s possible then contradict yourself by stating 5v6 wouldn’t work for long if at all.
Personal performance has never affected ranking. Wins and Losses do. So if a Silver skill player is ranked at bronze because the other 5 players are bad. He might get stuck at bronze because the other bronze players are worse than him. However he could hold his rank at silver with other silver players. It’s not difficult. Yet you can’t comprehend the notion nor argue against it, so you just jump straight ahead to saying I’m wrong.
