In the various competitve games I’ve played, Overwatch is by far the worst bar none; A ranking system that lacks any transparency, a broken matchmaking system that will force you to eat losses, the constant need to outperform 9 other players to even have a chance to rank up. During season 2, I as a new player had managed to consistently climb all the way to plat 2, I’m certainly not amazing but I was proud that I was able to be consistent. I was on my way to diamond, then I got hit with forced losses, thrown down into gold, and I haven’t recovered since, no matter how much Improve as a player
Everyone loves to scream “skill issue” and “you are the problem not the game”, but please tell me at what point will I stop being stuck in losers queue and start climbing. I spend hours of my time improving my fundementals, improve my attitude towards teammates and myself, learn my characters better. How much energy do I need to put into this game before it stops screwing me over?
This game does not work as a team-based competitive experience, no one ever wants to work together and no amount of individaul skill, empathy, flexibility or patience will change that. I’ve never felt more depressed, helpless and worthless as an person more than I have with ranked overwatch. Why am I expected to put 200% into the game when I’m often put in coinflip scenarios where I lose.
It sounds like you’ve gotten really unlucky. Either with people that struggle with teamwork. Or with really well arranged enemy teams.
The only advice i can give you is to either play comp at a different time of day and see if that helps, or take a break from comp and not worry about it.
I reached plat 4 and started getting so consistently wiped that i decided to not bother with comp for a while. I’m just improving my hero roster in qp and maybe i’ll be back in comp once i’m more confident or find a stack to play comp with.
i completely agree with everything you said. people and aspecially a guy named Roku here on the forum are trying keep the playerbase dumb and completely disregard people their experience in the game and will keep replying with same message saying you need to improve.
this makes completely no sense as i have been playing overwatch since the launch and have over 1300 hours time spend on overwatch 1. which doesnt even count my previous account that was hacked.
then mr. smart guy says i need more experience…
i also loved how he replied with: its a you problem something around that line… even tho its a team based game.
But because we don’t have the skill to play it how it’s “meant to be played”.
The game is too reliant on others, it’s too reliant on counter swapping. Individual pop off that was promised is limited by the ridiculous how of healing and pocketing.
If your supports don’t pocket anyone. You lose.
If your tank picks the wrong option. You lose.
So stop caring. Just play and mess about. I’ve dropped about 4 divisions on DPS so far this season, but I’m having the most fun playing DPS that I’ve had in OW2.
