Do they really expect me to be able to carry a whole team? I guess it’s to be expected I wouldn’t have a perfect streak- but playing as a healer I was able to achieve a ‘career best’ with 13,000 healing and lost that game. Which for the rating system is all that matters. Man. I -really- want to try doing comp since I haven’t even placed before after playing this game for way too many hours. But it’s really disheartening when I can’t control all of my teams actions. I won’t get into the whole story but ultimately my abilities are being judged based off of 5 other people’s abilities more than my fraction worth. Is it really worth it?
Is it really worth it? I play QP because I’m scared of the toxicity I’ve seen in comp only trying to get past the ranking system. I’m tired of hearing “It’s only quick play” when I don’t play comp so qp is as serious as I get. If I do get past the rating system do the games actually feel like they have more structure, or is it more stressful?
Play Comp, there is some toxicity but only in the odd game. You will find a lot more effort to create reasonable team comps and you won’t be healing 5 kamikaze DPS.
Makes the Comp leveling system a little less scary… I don’t want to care about where they place me but I’ve heard certain placements (silver I think it is) is an awful mess of talents trying to get out of silver… Regardless. I’ll try to play for fun and not treat comp like a math test my life depends on.

i used to be gold… then stupid system changed, got trolled a lot and now i was stuck in silver before i got supertrolled into bronze hell!
comps? nobody knows what a comp is…
support? nah… i’ll DPS with the rest…
tank? nah… DPS… that’s golden right there! can’t win without a bad sniper…
brains? herderpdooderderder boop boop derrrrr bairns?

this friggin weekend was so bad i dropped all way from silver into friggin bronze hell!!! now i’m stuck with the worst trash this game can trow at me

found out why there’s a bronze hell… people willingly trow matches and do everything to lose just to DROP rank… this starts in silver (so i think from gold this kinda dies down)

Nah the people who say they cant get out of silver have not yet learned to play the game and they play to rank up not to get better its why they will stay there for a long time.
If i was to play in bronze i would be plat within a few hours the players down there play so bad it would be a massacre why cant you do the exact same if you belong to a higher rank im pretty sure you was just put in gold by placements and that is where most players end up blizzard need to change it so that all new players start in bronze it would fix alot.
i do mind being stuck in bronze crap hell! not a single decent match down here and impossible to rank up with trash on both sides (overrun with smurfs, cheaters and trash that just sinks this low just to troll)
I hear you on the “get gud” crap. I think a lot of legitimate concerns are dismissed with ‘get gud’.
My problem is that this is a team based game. I’m not my whole team. Even if I do really well (as I said at the beginning) if I don’t win that’s it. and it’s not necessarily my fault (though it can be!) and that’s what’s so perplexing to me! Crawling up the ranks means the teams I play with have to be capable and work well together and if you’re in the lower ranks, from my understanding, they’res a lot more chaos.

My main account (this one) is around 2000SR. Recently I’ve purchased another account to learn heros I’m not good at. That account is 2700+SR and I do well at that rank. The gameplay at 2000SR and 2700SR are very different. At 2700SR teamplay usually exists, while at 2000SR it’s much like deathmatch without the “team” part. Being only relatively small factor in a team of 6 makes it difficult to climb when most of your teammates are players who never try to learn and improve their skills, they simply spend more hours hoping to win more and get better ranks.
By building a good team at 2000SR it’s possible to have streaks of 10 wins but the next day that team won’t be online and it might take lots of losses or forever to assemble another good team. Even if you assemble a good team a lot of people come online only for a few matches (but win streaks usually keep team online longer ).
If you solo Q then you have to exploit some very prominent mistakes committed at lower ranks. Lack of teamplay might make it very easy for a good genji to harass/backstab an enemy team. Low skilled players shoot zarya bubbles like crazy so you can build energy quickly. And so on. But consistent solo Q climbing seems to be very difficult or impossible with most heros on my account. Unfortunately I’m not very good with any of the “hard-carry” heros but recently started learning genji. I find it an interesting challenge to solo climb with my 2000SR account.
