I have two ideas for a potential reaper rework to both give him more team utility and varied options in play style. They may sound crazy but tell me what you think. There are different variations of the two ideas I have in mind, if any which would you prefer.
1.) Give reaper a short range grab that holds a target for 1.25 sec. During this period he can’t shoot but if he activates an ability his target gets affected by his ability and they are bound to him for the duration of his ability. For example, if he were to wraith his target would be in wraith as well but have no control over the direction they go. The animation for this could be perhaps the swing of a scythe which was gifted by Junk Rat.
Variations:
A.) The grab works on allies as well as enemies.
B.) The grab only works on enemies.
2.) Give reaper a 5sec ability that turns off his self healing in exchange for reduced bullet spread. Perhaps 65-75%.
Variations:
A.) Reaper experiences slight health drain while in this state.
B.) Reaper experiences slight health drain while in this state but generates temporary sheilds equal to 15% of the damage dealt.
The first suggestion would increase reapers threat to an enemy team by giving him the ability to disrupt their formation and would force them to play more clusterd so as to not get separated from their team. If he could use it on allies he would be able to help with positioning as well as protecting his his target. This simply makes him more viable but doesn’t take away his main weaknesses.
The second suggestion also makes him more viable and decreases the harshness of his counter match ups which make up over half the dps in the game.
Personally I favor option 1A, I think it would make the character much more fun to play and give him more value in higher ellos. If nothing else it would be great if blizzard gave reaper the ability to use his abilities together (wraith and shadow step together and visaversa) What do you think?
