Recieve skins by playing ranked?

Hey, Blizzard and any person who can have an adult conversation.

So… I got an idea, which i bet a lot of people will hate me for. I missed out on the 2019 all-stars skins, which honestly left me really heartbroken… I honestly don’t understand why these skins are exlusive. correct me if im wrong but the all-stars skins are made for fans to be able to represent their favorite team?

So what about the fans that miss out on the skins?.. I just feel like its unfair that events like this forces people to put their life on hold because of a simple skin (and for a game)… like another player wrote in a thread i read ‘‘the skins are only actually valuable if you sell your account but thats against the rules’’ which is one of the reasons, why i dont understand that players are against the idea of brining them back…

Ive seen people who says that people should just really ‘‘accept it and move on’’ which i can understand, but i also feel sorry for the fans who missed out on the event. for the people who says accept it and move on… i wonder if they will say the same thing if they miss out on something like this. In another post i read i saw someone who pretty much wrote ‘‘i dont want the all-stars skins to come back but mercys pink skin would be nice tho’’ which is another reason for me to not take these people seriously…

well so my idea is… why not turn these all-stars skins into ranked skins? by this i mean that we already have the golden weapons that you can purchase for points… why not skins? wouldnt it then be a better idea to have skins that you can recieve by playing ranked? than to have all-stars skins once a year and then ppl (like me) go onto the forums and complain about it? and then people complain that im complaining about it…

for those of you who thinks ‘‘oh great more idiots in ranked’’ well everything in life is what you turn it into if you go in with a negative attitude… everything is negative…

So basically to translate your post to a simplified down TL,DR version.
It is unfair that the All-Star skins are exclusive for player who care about League, so make it fair by making it still exclusive, but to player who care about competitive.
Right? :wink:

In my opinion that would only shift the root cause from one place to an other.

I hate too that those skins are so awesome but can’t get them because i couldn’t care less about anything related to OW league. But there will be always something which you can’t have if you don’t sell your soul. Like the skins you get by playing HotS.
I get that Blizz is trying to get their fans to jump on everything they own. But of someone isn’t playing HotS, that’s for a reason. if someone isn’t playing comp or watching league, that’s also. I wish they would just leave this whole concept and let people play for maybe…fun only(?)

yeah! thats the idea… i mean sure a lot of ppl might not be so hype on playing ranked but i feel like it could give people a reason to at least try it and if they dont like it than its their choice… right? and if they dont like playing ranked maybe if the skins are still available they can give it another try in the future

and yeah youre right about the ‘‘selling your soul to blizzard part’’ what a ****hold…

because that is what makes them valuable. Nobody wants worthless common skins. How many people do you see running around in classic skins?

no, if I have a special skin not many people own, its kind of nice. But thats some personal opinion there, if you think differently there is no value for you… but for other people there is.

i understand your opinion and i agree… i have the kerrigan skin for widowmaker (idk how many ppl who have it) and i think its cool when i see someone else have it… but you can still change skins… only because you have them all it doesnt mean that you necessarily will use that skin. i think (and this is just a guess) we both can agree on that since the all-star event ended… the people who got the all-star skins (not all but some) probably dont use them anyways…

im just saying that there are better ways for blizz to ‘‘give skins to the ppl’’ i feel like its more beneficial if theyre available for all but that you have to work hard for it… and not just having the OW leauge muted in the background not caring about it anyways.

I see it differently. Ranked or competitive play, as the name implies, people should this kind of game mode in any game for the competition. To see what are their skill levels and how far they can get. If you need skins as a reward to pull in people into a competitive game where they don’t want to play in the 1st place, you are not only force them to sacrifice fun, but also force people who would love to play competitive to deal with the issues these people bring into the competition.
I don’t play competitive because i don’t want to, and wouldn’t enjoy it. And i would feel terrible if i would need to play it just to get one skin. And would feel terrible for the people I play with. :slight_smile:

Agree. There are a looot of people using common or even purple skins. Not the rarity of the skin makes it good, but how good the skin looks like. My most loved skin for Pharah is the possessed one which is very common. And I think the best skin for Doomfist is his basic skin
Not to mention bastion. Besides tombstone, I don’t like his skins.

Well let’s be honest, how long does it take till everyone has at least a few of those skins you think you have only?
That was the exact same case with golden weapons. 1st it was meant to be something special. Only the skilled player had. And how long? Till the 1st season.
After that, every last little plankton has unlocked at least 2-3 golden weapons for their most played characters. Now what if you see a golden weapon? Nothing. Aside from that flashy animation which is annoying to look at, it’s just an additional sin for your weapon people are using less and less because the base weapons skins for each hero skin is better than the golden ones.

No please no more things that can be unlocked in comp… Golden guns are bad enough…
It will bring people who dont care about comp to play comp, just to get those skins… It would make comp even worse…

Like the Lucio owl emote… When I bought mine, I had to buy all access pass for last year… Sure you got more skins and twitch stuff and crap, but all I wanted was the emote…
Now you can buy it for a few owl tokens

yeah… youre right but you can still have fun in ranked… which ppl might think i sound stupid for writing… but ive tried ranked and i had a lot of fun. ranked is actually really fun when people work togheter and communicate. i just feel like ill be ignored if i simply ask blizz to bring back the skins and/or ppl will think im a crybaby and complain that i complain

Wont ever happen. The lead developer regrets putting golden guns in the game, there is no reason to assume he changed his stance.

i actually enjoy the golden guns when i see them during a match (and i dont even own any) but as i said its what you make it. im not saying that my idea is a good one its just that if blizzard did this atleast it would be something everyone could afford… and i feel like its pretty selfish of you to write that because i bought this game for my own money and you have no right to tell me what i can and cant do when i want to enjoy overwatch. i understand that a lot of ppl would play it only for the skins but what if some of those ppl would enjoy ranked and continue to play it

More rewards in comp is not an option that should ever be considered. The purpose behind comp is, that you tryhard to achieve something rank related. The whole reason the golden guns are a huge failure is, that they are given out for participating, rather than earned through achievement. Back in the day, you had to win to get CP for golden guns, that at least made the people, who only wanted the guns need to actually try to win. Now you earn some if you lose or tie as well. The only rewards that should be in competetive is (Barely any), but a reward linked to achieving something, like getting 3k, 4k or such, similarily to how top 500 works. This might sound elitist but it isn´t in any way, cause the problem with giving rewards out no matter your mindset and will to win is, that you facilitate a mentality for some players, that never should be in the game mode to begin with.

i never said it was going to be easy to get them… id prefer to be as you wrote that it shouldnt be achieved only for participating… if you want something you should work for it right?

This makes it worse. People who don’t like competitive will have to play more than 10 games each season for the skins? Watch how this ruins the mode even more.

Well true, it can be fun. if you like it anyway and the concept of it. But for me it has more cons as pros. :frowning: And i’m pretty sure, I’m not just not the only one, but not the very minority.
But aside of ranked vs not ranked, the original issue you mentioned, that locking cool skins behind League tokens is bad. If they say, the goal is for you to “support your favorite team”, you can still buy the team colored skins. Which is a much better showcase of support. But making the coolest skins locked behind this is a business move which doesn’t even want to hide the original goal of Blizz anymore. Money money money. With the team colored skins you had at least the illusion of support. :smiley:

just stop asking for limited items to become unlimited, people don’t like their stuff being devalued.
