Reins charge hitbox is a bit broken. Reins have been charging to the side of me and still somehow pinning. Does this happen with anyone else?
What characters are you playing? As someone who has quite a few hours on Mercy I can tell you it only has to clip the tiniest tip of the wing sometimes.
I’ve seen it work both ways tbh, I’ve been in disbelief at replays where my character appears to move about a meter sideways into Rein’s path when picked up by the charge. I’ve also seen plenty of times when I get away with taking a Rein charge head on and not get pinned.
I play Moira. I’ve seen many replays of Reins charging to the side and pulling me infront to pin. Seems a tad broken.
Oh yeah your absolutely not alone in experiencing this and I agree its not ideal. I’ve always just put it down to a bit of lag or margin for error from being an online game, but be interesting to hear a proper explanation from someone in the know.
rein pin is very strange. it sucks people in when they are on one side, and pushes them away even when it looks like you should’ve hit on the other
I’ve always found Rein’s charge to be very inconsistent, sometimes you punt targets that you clearly should’ve grabbed, other times you vacuum people in that you clearly missed.
And then there’s the odd stuff, like grabbing people who are behind you or where you send someone flying but then they somehow get dragged back into the charge.
Oh this has happened a few times as well, so weird.
Those reins are lucky, when I charge it’s like I’ve got a leaf blower attached to me.
Reins charge favors one side strongly over the other. Which one that is I don’t know for sure because I don’t play Rein (I think from a Rein POV the left side is “bigger”).
So figure out which side you don’t want to be on, and always dodge there.
Edit: Yeah, after playing around in the practice range, try not dodging to the right.
i think i heard it somewhere that it’s where his arms are is the side where he has the most potential to suck you in, like it’s his sweet spot.
just think of it like a grab and it makes more sense that he would be able to where his arms are.
but yeah it does suck you in regardless at times and i think that’s because there’s like lag and it uses rollback netcode so the game predicts your movement for you before you make it.
for example if you would run in a straight line it assumes you’re still gonna run in that straight line for the next half a second and so it processes it that way which leads to getting sucked in when you on your screen ran the other way because you reacted to it as it happened.
so yeah it’s a bit iffy.
I’ve always called it a vaccume you get sucked in and scammed haha
It has been known for years. One shoulder pushes, the other sucks in. They’ve tweaked it a few times over the years, but if you know which shoulder it is, makes it really easy to jump and avoid. You just get booped away.
