Rendering device has been lost

Hello

I moved place last monday and has since then had a problem with games in general. Overwatch too. I decided to take out my GPU since it was a 4 hour long drive with construction work and hard bumps and big holes. The GPU was put on the car seat next to me, in a staticproof bag. Nothing else on the seat. My screen was put nicely behind my seat, so it wouldn’t fly around either. Nothing happened to neither the GPU or the screen.

When I got here, I assembled my PC and connected it as you normally do, how ever since then I’ve been almost unable to play games. I don’t know what to call my problem, but I have a video on PlaysTV where you can see it happen. It worked fine before I drove.

I’ve been troubleshooting for days and been all over the internet in search for answers. Now I know Overwatch and GTA are 2 different games, but I put in the log in case it could help narowing it down.

It does not happen in menus of games, but during gameplay such as in the training ground in Overwatch.
The PC otherwise works fine when not playing without any problems at all.

My screen is set up with:

  • BenQ xl2430t
  • 1920x1080 144hz
  • Vertical sync is set on program controlled
  • Frame update speed (hz) is set on program controlled
  • DisplayPort cable

I have tried:

  • Crashes - Rendering Device Lost (Blizzard post)
  • Microsoft File Checker
  • Setting vertical sync on in Nvidia Controll Panel and off in games
  • Lowering settings (helped after a while in GTA … I think)
  • Re-installing games
  • Removing GPU driver and installing it again
  • Offline games
  • Using Displayport cable capeable of capable of 4k 144hz and DVI
  • Re-inserting GPU cables
  • Re-installing the C++ things
  • Using a completely new 144hz screen
  • Verifying game files
  • Neither GPU or CPU have heated to more than 70 degrees celcius
  • Cinebench R15 without any troubles
  • Using DDU v18.0.1.5
I’m sure I have tried more things, which I just can’t remember right now.

I have the exact same issue.
And Blizzard keeps telling me it’s Nvidia’s fault - which by now I think most people know can no longer be true.
I just had two matches being interrupted due to this and there is zero help to gain from writing Blizzard. I get penalized for an error that I have no control over.
I’m all for new heroes, but the ability to not run on new (which by now is no longer new) hardware should be number one priority.
The problem is so well documented I cannot fathom what sort of excuse is used internally to make devs shrug at the problem. Is it too hard to fix? Don’t they care? Did management tell them to abandon users purposely?

In this pace, we won’t know before Overwatch 2 is released.

I’ve tried a lot of different things, provided good information, yet nothing. Hmm
