I have been playing my placing matches in the current competitive season over the past few days and yesterday, I was dropped to the main menu in 3 consecutive matches, after which I received a 2 hour ban from competitive.
This morning I tried again and was dropped in the exact same way almost immediately, leading to an 8 hour ban and a warning that “Repeatedly leaving matches early will result in a penalty.”
Each time, all other players froze some way into the game and after several seconds I was returned to the main menu. The “Rejoin Game” button did nothing, but restarting Overwatch completely allowed me to connect to another game without a problem (in casual at least). Note that I was never dropped from a casual game.
In none of these instances have I had any problem with internet connection on my end. I used the Looking Glass service on this website to the correct Overwatch servers which have repeatedly shown 100% packet loss in the ping section, despite the fact that I can connect in game without problems. Since it contains my IP address, I have not included the full results of this, but I can provide them more privately.
Primarily I would like to resolve this issue, but also I feel well within my rights to request you reverse the levelled penalties against me because of your server problems.
Having the same issue. Not staying off competative games, cause you can’t fix the game. Honestly blizzard is the only one I have connection issues. I am not turning off apps or going through report steps, cause you can’t make launcher stable.
Please, if you’re still having connection issues, make sure you go through the article linked by Hagut and follow all the steps, including the advanced troubleshooting.
If the issue persists after that, we’ll need some more data so we can investigate your issues:
Details of issue:
Date/time it started:
City/Country:
Internet Provider:
Traceroute (right after a disconnection or whenever you’re experiencing the issue)
Pathping (right after a disconnection or whenever you’re experiencing the issue)
WinMTR (right after a disconnection or whenever you’re experiencing the issue)
we are screwed and they won’t do nothing about it. I lost 250 sr and being dragged down to skill level where I should not be at. I constantly send them screen shots, saying hey none of the actions that are to be taken is working, it isn’t our problem and we’re getting punished for it. I feel your pain
Literally having the exact same problem in Xbox EU Servers. Every single game we have two people who drop out at the exact same time (sometimes from the same team, sometimes one from each team.) Also the victory screens are only showing 5 people on the screen instead of 6 and highlight introductions aren’t working. This is happening to not only me but all of the people I hang round with and people in the overwatch community, including PC players. This is NOT a connection-based issue this is a SERVER-based issue.
Exactly the same problem! I hope it is fixed soon. I am very unhappy it has ruined my games since the update, I would like some recompense of some kind for wasted time.
Yep just happened to me and now it says cant log into the game… no worries the team i was with was toxic (5 man) and all saying how bad i am even though im sitting on 3 golds… good times.
At the moment we aren’t aware of any general connection issue with Overwatch servers.
If you’re having trouble connecting to the game, or suffering disconnections, please check this article and make sure you follow all the instructions, including the advanced steps: battle.net/support/article/99037
We do need you to follow the steps so we can discard the most common causes for this kind of issue, even if you’re convinced your connection isn’t the cause. We need to discard those causes in order to investigate.
If the issue persists after that, we need the diagnostics. Without them, we can’t really see what’s going wrong, or where. So please, provide us with the following data:
Details of issue:
Date/time it started:
City/Country:
Internet Provider:
Traceroute (right after a disconnection or whenever you’re experiencing the issue)
Pathping (right after a disconnection or whenever you’re experiencing the issue)
WinMTR (right after a disconnection or whenever you’re experiencing the issue)
I have been dropped from a competitive game twice in two days without warning. My connection is great, and never lags. I have never been dropped from a quickplay or arcade game(which I play primarily) from what I can remember. The first time I got dropped, I noticed my rank hadn’t changed after the last match, so I thought that maybe it updated while I was in game and dropped me…but this second time, I don’t know why it happened. First time was last night, and just now (4-9-19) around 9pm. There is no warning, it just snaps to the main menu.
Hello my son was kicked out of a competitive game through no fault of his own yet you penalize him for playing your game. It is an absolute joke how your game glitches and kicks players out. Do not tell me my connection is the problem as the internet is working perfectly. The only issues he has on Xbox is playing your game. It is your responsibility to ensure your games run smoothly and do not just kick people out and then penalize them. It is an absolute joke - I will not let him download any more of your games - especially as you do not accept responsibility for your errors. Please tell what is the incentive to play your games. I am so angry that you are not accountable for the rubbish you produce and blame the connection. Do not bother telling me how to solve my internet connections because that is not the problem - I know that because I have been on the internet working. Your error - sort it and give him back the privileges you so wrongly took away from him. While you’re at it - sort your bloody game and and stop punishing other players for your mistakes. Stupid game
You see the problem is that the servers for Xbox are under Microsoft’s control and Blizzard has nothing to do with it. Microsoft manages these servers so you can direct your potential attention to them.
Moreover, the fact that you have an internet connection does not mean that there will be no problem somewhere on your way to the server.
