Reset Ban CD/ Reset perma Ban status for new game

A lot of us have played OW for many years now, Thousands of hours. I’ve been reported many times by groups of 4 that refused to play seriously and auto banned me unfairly. Countless hours of extremely toxic players and I’ve been banned for toxic behavior for retaliating back against abuse. I’m not Perma banned, BUT on a long enough timeline who knows. The percent of people with a clean record are probably close to 0. I’m not going to invest even more money into a client that could end up banned for good. There are multiple people on the internet claiming you are taking their money that are banned from OW1 now buying OW2. While I would love to say they got what they deserved I can’t help but think this system is flawed. They were thinking a new game would be a new game. Now you stole their money (literally) and they don’t have a product. I’m hoping an oversight into this matter is what we are seeing as I don’t think it’s fair to keep permanent records for people, just like expunging a criminal record is a thing there should be a limit on these bans. Yeah, I get a lot of you think you are better than everyone else because you can virtue signal how you are a perfect being, but humans AREN’T perfect and this system is doing a great disservice to people in general. While being disruptive or toxic to a team can be frustrating, telling people how they should act or else be eliminated from said society indefinitely I think is even worse. Just like prisons should work to reform prisoners this system is completely failing the people and creating a platform where most people play without even communicating. A society shouldn’t exist just to exclude others because you don’t get along with them, perhaps punishments should be in order, but kicking people completely out of society indefinity over communication issues is not a resolution that I would support in real life and in my honest opinion it doesn’t work here either. I suggest at least a reset on bans for a new game and perhaps a reworking of the banning system. If I play with a person who was banned for a week and they are friendly and outgoing in communication why would I hold a record over that person indefinitely? If they have a lapse 1 year later then the system should be working to correct his behavior again in the same way that worked before, not punish them forever. I don’t see how his behavior will change if he makes a new account, he will just be in a terrible mood causing even more disruption to the extent it doesn’t get him banned. Like a worker that just does the bare minimum to not get fired the people who are toxic will continue to be toxic in whatever form they can get away with, causing Intentional toxicity which was caused by the system that failed them int he first place.

I’m not professing I have the ultimate answer, but I believe people should have the chance for improved behavior and a reset would at least encourage people to try to improve. I don’t think an oppressive system with phone tracking is the right answer. You are failing the battle with toxicity by pretending everyone can function perfectly, but they wont. Even in this comment section I’m sure we will see people being downright toxic, but I don’t want them to be permanently banned. Just because we scream about the system working as intended doesn’t mean we are right, we should strive for better systems in everything. (end rant)

No.

If you were given a short suspension and miss the launch. Tough luck, you need to learn to behave better.

If you were perma banned… Just start again on a new account.

As for your bit about “reported by groups” and all that… It takes so many reports to get actioned to the point of a suspension, that you need to have been annoying people for loads games over multiple days. It is a convenient excuse for people, but just isn’t true.

don’t do the crime if you cant do the time. xd. but personally i dont see why bans are carried over as its a new game n such. but you can easily make a new account since its f2p.

You don’t see why, in a game where they have announced a massive effort to clamp down on toxic players… They don’t want toxic players to come over?

You don’t see that? Odd.

You can easily make a new account. Then have to deal with the FTUE experience where you don’t have all the heroes for around 100 games… Not too many experienced players are going to enjoy that.

you dont see that its odd that people can easily make new accounts, meaning those toxic players can come back over n over again, despite not having everything. they will still come back if they enjoy the game, especially now its f2p :man_shrugging:

You could do that in OW1. For a small cost.

Now you will do it for free, and have to pay to catch up on the stuff you need. It will be “easier” to create an account, but far more expensive (or time consuming) to get back what you had.

My friend had an account closed, and in the email it says, if you want to play again just create an new account. They are more than happy for you to do it. As long as you learn from your mistakes. Otherwise you will just get the new account banned as well.

Even know excessively toxic players like Versorius and Kim (both accounts perma banned for their behaviour), will be welcomed back with open arms if they choose to make a return on fresh accounts. Although having interacted with one of them recently outside of OW… I doubt they’ve learnt a single thing sadly.

I have 1000s of hours too and never been reported… Must be you that does something wrong and thus deserves the punishment

Greetings @RedicalTed, I have to agree with you @LadyCrimson, same with me, I never give reason to anyone to report me.Be nice to evryone, treat others as you would like to be treated and you will never face any Issue 101% from my own experience.

hardly a small cost though, it was £14/£16. :man_shrugging: now that its free, it obviously costs nothing which means many people will abuse that fact. there will be more smurfs than ever.

You are forgetting the FTUE system. No experience player is going to want to play 100+ games just to get all the heroes unlocked, so they will likely pay to get past that. Which atm is the Watchpoint Pack (£35). So yes it is more expensive.

I get where you are coming from, but you are either deliberately ignoring the actual process, or totally ignorant of it.

Assuming it is the later and you haven’t seen. New accounts will only have 13 heroes to play with.

  • 4 Tanks (Orissa, Rein, Winston, Zarya)
  • 6 DPS (Reaper, Soldier, Torb, Tracer, Widow, Pharah)
  • 3 Supports (Lucio, Mercy, Moira)

It will take nearly twice as long to just unlock all the heroes in OW2, than it did to just hit lvl25 and ranked in OW1.

Getting perma banned and starting again, is going to be a massive time sink. Or an expensive boost.

Also, with the new AI monitoring systems, people should get banned more efficiently when they step out of line.

blizzard and efficiency is two opposite thing…sadly they are for the money not for the players long time ago, they started this after wow made them “king” of the pc games from financial point of view

They’ve always been for the money. They are a business.

i remember they called themselves “game developer” company …but as i said was long time ago

and maybe you are young or just didnt play blizzard in the old times, but when starcraft and warcraft were their mainstream game, they cared about the gamers much much more then nowadays

They can call themselves what ever they like. They are a publicly listed company… They have to think about the bottom line first. That is what the shareholders demand, most of which don’t care about you, I or the game.

who said the opposite?
