Returned after years, horrible experience

I returned on a new account after being absent for several years (I played during Overwatch 1, but always mediocre and not ranked) and wanted to play this game with my friend. The account change was due to name reasons also a few years ago. After a few games which were halfway balanced it started, we always had enemy groups with hundreds to thousand of hours playtime and visible ranked experience. At frist we thought some loses might change that, but no. For the whole several days now it is just horrible. Lose after lose, no matter what. There seems no balance and a gigantic bias toward that we get matched against far to hard enemies all the time. Now I am at around 70 games with only 18 wins, even worse when removing the first balanced ones. Is this normal?

Today I even was flamed for not being good enough as healer, because the enemy, again, where completely nuts and our team was always spreaded. And yes for sure I am not a good player, because I played the game casually years ago. It often feels like a group of new players are matched against veterans. I really enjoyed the game in the very past, but this just kills any will to continue. It is stunning how the matchmaking is so extremly biased or broken and I see no way how this could get better. A simple mixing of players between the teams would fix it but sadly that does not happen… It just hurts, beside the matchmaking I really enjoy the game.

when I brought 3 OW-newbie friends to the game once and we made a group together for quickplay we lost 21 times in a row
Two quit forever after that on their first day…

One additional thought:
What makes these streaks especially “outrageous” is that statistically if a matchmaker was trying to make even matches (not saying it can avoid stomps, but rather just that it can at least give everyone the same amount of stomps  that would already have totally worked for us) the chance of a 21-streak happening is 2 ^ 21 which is 1 in ~2 million chance. :point_up_2: - now of course the matchmaker first needs to get some idea how good a new player actually is, but it seems it did not have any learning capabilities at all in our case. Let’s assume it takes 5 games to get a rough estimate of where the newbies belong, that would still leave 16-loss streak, which has a chance of ~ 1 in 70000 to happen. Apparently not a hurdle for Blizzard’s matchmaker!

Thank you for the insight. It helps a bit to read that others also face this problem. Hopefully it will get better sometimes, until then it is only a few matches each evening.
