Season 11 - Fix the one-sided matches?

Just a thought for Season 11, how about fixing the all too often one-sided matches?

One sided games has been the norm since OW2. They won’t change it as they prefer people playing low quality matches over longer queue times. The game is a casual fest and a skin runaway now so don’t expect much from blizzard quality wise.

Queue times were fine when they made all roles fun and optimised for player controlled matches. They only went high when they ruined the tank roles.

I’m not sure there is anything more they can do to hand hold people and reduce snowballing.

They’ve given you the respawn time changes, and the spawn swaps.

They can’t make people position smarter, or use comms, or even pick their hero for them. If your tank turns up and has a bad game, you lose. Nothing more any one can do.

I know this sounds weird but we kinda need one sided matches. The games algorithm aims to keep you at a 50% win rate so if youve lost alot of games…you might get a few where you roll the enemy team. Cos that is the game trying to balance your win streak to keep you happy and ‘release those precious endorphens’ The opposite is true with having a win streak, say your really good and win alot of games. You will have to expect to be put against a team of extremely good players while having less experianced players on your team. The sad thing is…is that this works…it keeps us engaged…if it didnt…we wouldbt be here in the first place writing about it🤣

You’re right, that does sound weird.

Overwatch’s matchmaking was fine, I don’t recall there being one sided matches and when there was, it was rare. And that worked for many years. Instead, we have this very negatively reviewed game with poor matchmaking.

Would be good if they look into it.

This is the first time we will disagree.

The game has nothing in place to force, or even push you towards 50%. This is just a natural accurate of roughly accurate MMR and match making working.

Well maybe. It just seems like the most reasonable since thats how most multiplayer fps runt there matchmaking. If not ih well. Thx

I think all have the dream that a player will, if match making works as intended end up around 50%

Ultimately if a match is perfectly matched it should be a coin flip 50/50 game. Play 100 of them, you’ll be about 50% wr.

In reality that’s impossible to predict. People are human and are inconsistent. Then you add a player randomly throwing. Or someone who’s improved abd come back to an old account and you get the picture.

Ultimately when you hit your peak, your win rate will level out to about 50%. It would be impossible to force that, and not a good business move.

Lol. Would love to see the proof of that.

Yeah, the games a bit meh atm, but player numbers haven’t really changed for months.

What metrics have you used to determine that…

Again… by what metrics…

It comes across as you don’t enjoy their games, have gotten frustrated and are now just abusing other players because they aren’t as downbeat as you about things.

Just a friendly tip. Saying things like that gets you banned…

Would be good if they look into this.

They do, they analyse match data constantly. If changes aren’t being made, it’s because changes aren’t needed, and you might be imagining things.

Ah good, at least they’re looking into it. Clearly shows they know that something is up with OW2.

Maybe if they look back at what Overwatch was, they may realise what is causing these problems.

Doubt it. Same issues back then exist now… The players.

You’ve got to be utterly oblivious to think the game is the issue for this “problem”.

You just said that they do look into this constantly…

Overwatch never had this problem in my opinion. Very very rarely was a game one-sided.
Yes, you’re utterly oblivious.

They analyse data constantly. I also said…

So you lied then regarding the fixing of one-sided matches…

No. I said they look into it.

They’ve discussed it in dev updates too. Stating they look into the reason for it, and if action is needed they’ll take it.

Therefore, if there’s no action, action isn’t needed. Can’t fix what isn’t broken.

Cool, at least they’re looking into it. Maybe we’ll see something in Season 11.
