❔ Should Overwatch have a detailed scoreboard?

A lot of games like LoL, CS have detail scoreboards presented during the game, or after the game. Many people in the community think a detailed scoreboard has its pros and cons.

What do you guys think about it? Should Overwatch have a detailed scoreboard?

Let’s hope that mods will move our discussion here when we are done.

They can’t because half of the discussion in the other thread is relevant to the topic, and the other half isn’t. It’s a spaghetti mix.
On the other hand I think a detailed scoreboard might work after the game is over…
Not during mid game.
This is only so, people don’t look at those detailed numbers mid game and start accusing their team mates.

I just love your “please pay attention to my thread so I can get even more posts on my postcounter” emotes on the thread names.

Yes it should.

It should during mid game or after the games done ?

Oh boy i wish i was higher rank’d on the forum just so i can post
“Insert moira eating popcorn”
Every time i see you guys.

You guys were on a huge deviation from the other threads main topic. I helped you channel your points into a thread meant for it :stuck_out_tongue:

OW doesn’t need a scoreboard . What it would be nice to have is : How much you have been healed by X , Y etc for each hero.

Scoreboards are useful for pro games, were the analyst needs to break down stuff. In the comp ladder scoreboards have other problems. Like people going off objective just to farm the highest score on the board.
Then it becomes new bragging right…
Most DPS dealt over 10s in EU is a record I hold!

Flag me on the other post so they move me here or something.

Just a little breakdown.

I’m speculating that the tanks and healers will be the least affected by this.
Some of us don’t look at the score board as the “biggest pepe competition” and its sad if the once who do are a reason for it not to be added.

All in all they are here to just to show information.
Like i said the option to hide accounts looks nice it will certainly help out players that want to play roles they don’t main.

But with the scoreboard youre just looking at stats from one game, and stats from one game don’t define a player. No one is unstoppable in this game. But it will sure help it if we can see how certain players are performing in that game.

Like if the opponents play good or bad you don’t need a scoreboard.
But when you have someone that troll’s and lies about stats to rally up the team against someone in voice or team chat its bad. And it happens more often on EU for some reason.

If nothing give them the option to hide it i have no problem with my stats being on display all the time no matter if i’m doing good or bad in a game. Just more intensive on me to play good.

Carry’d so many games on lets say a tank like Rine or Roadhog (i will stroke myself a little but) i did had huge states and the game was just easy on my the dps.
But none of the dps cared to to any dmg or to swap to something more useful and i think having our stats shown will make people want to do better. Especially dps getting overshadowed by support and tank play.

On lol i play jungle mainly its really helpful to have information if you want to help your team out. And helping your team will help you win. Flaming someone for the stats he has in one game is just dumb. No reason to pay any attention to that and like you said he can just mute at worse.

Mixing a scoreboard with an endorsement system will almost guarantee that the highest dps players get endorsed instead of that guy who was keeping the teams moral up most of the time. People will then start recording and shaming other players with these scoreboards on social media / other places. That will also result in someone being ungrouped from a group if he had a bad game.

In short a scoreboard becomes anti-social instead of a social feature.

Showing someones name with bad states means nothing.
They cant show the battle tag and 1000 player’s can have that same name.

Highest dps player won’t always get endorsed, you can solo carry on lol and the support will mostly get the honor only from the appreciation players show that role.

And you add the factor that people will play better to push for better stats in the end.

And it’s not like people don’t record and shame each other as it is.
Just shaming someone over one game is shameful to some.
In the end of the day the community need to decide how to approach its problems. And like shown all the time flaming and shaming never helps a team to win.
At least with a score board when someone is shaming you for no reason you have some ground to stand on. And if his judging you for having bad stats in one game then shame on him you can still try to convey him of your actions.

And when i say bad stats don’t think i mean not beeing at first place on damage healing or kills. Bad stats is when you’re on a dps and cant get a kill, you can still do a ton dmg but they will be traded for the opponents ult charges on the healers or damage to Zarya. So in the end why must this be hidden? At that point i might ask my dmg dealers to swap off to something more lethal. And yes i might ask but i wont flame or rub stats over his face…

What do we as a community have to gain from having a score board?
Why should it be in the game?

Most games that have scoreboards, it’s something people just skip through and get done with… No one sits and studies these detail scoreboards in the first place.

If you think that pros players don’t look at the score board and game to speculate on what they did and didn’t do wrong you’r wrong.

Like i said this is just information over one game.
Its like wow’s combat log. It literally collected info on everything that’s happening around you (even other players) and shows it to you so you have something to go about.

Gathering info yourself is important but it shouldn’t take away from your main focus that is paying the game. And it will certainly end a lot of arguments addressed to me faster as well.

By its a problem for the community i meant to say that if players will carry on with the mind set that stats are everything and its ok to shame each other over it.

Information is more helpful than disruptive if used right.

Pro players don’t have access to the score board information themselves in a game, and they are able to play at the highest of levels.
You don’t have anything useful to do with the information you get out of a scoreboard mid game.

That’s the point… It’s just information that ends up being used against the community for purely negative reasons.

Update: I am still to hear one positive use of the scoreboard

This isn’t proven, if someone wants to be toxic he will be, he won’t be toxic just cause a score board.

Ofc you do… like woah if you cant use information to better yourself or the team then i don’t even know.

I dont want people to fight with pitch forks over stats but i don’t want everyone to safely lie about them in this safe bubble that overwatch is.

They are positive things like players pushing to play better for better stats making for an all in better game experience.
And when you have someone that troll’s and lies about stats to rally up the team against someone in voice or team chat. Just lets you deal with players that do that in a faster ways.

Like again why do we need to let the trolls and flamers decide on this ? They are the once who care the lest about the team and they are the once who will constantly lie about stats in the game at hand.

You don’t have to burn your hands in fire to know it’s hot.
How many times, have you heard ppl say “I got Gold dmg, you change noob”?

At this point i will have to repeat myself let me fine stuff from the other post to copy.
Kills and medals don’t mean anything if they already swapped to counter you.

If you carry with 5 gold medals 50000:0 K:D but you call the teammates fags, or other rude stuff, i report you for beeing an as$. Idc if you are the best in the world. If you are really bad, but keep telling the team there’s a chance of winning. You’ll get my endorsement vote!

The point being people use the fact that they are gold, to harass others over voice.
That’s with a small indicator… Imagine if they had a full blown scoreboard.

A score board in a game like OW, has little meaning to the players. Unlike CS there are a lot of complex factors in OW, like tanking, heals, dmg etc… So looking at one set of numbers you’ll never get any valuable information that can be used to change the course of a game.

CS:GO only has dmg dealing, and there aren’t different classes. So it works there.
