Can you guys make a skin to support Ukraine like you did with the Pink Mercy skin for breast cancer? It created an insane amount of money and Ukraine could really need it. Please please I beg. People will buy it!
I agree
What about the wars in Afghanistan, did Blizzard make a skin for them? How about Yemen? Somalia? Syria? How about all the children and innocents who have been bombed there?
If you want skins and recognition for one war, then logically we should have them for all wars, not only those that social media and the BBC tell you to support.
I’d like this. I found the Pharah one “Same sorta colours”.
This isn’t quite true.
But you could simply add an peace or no war thing.
No, he has a good point.
So. If you’ve never done anything to take a stand before. You can’t ever take a stand?
Sure.
Like The18thFret said.
Which he is making a point. It isn’t a point that holds.
Just because they didn’t make a skin, or visibly do anything… doesn’t mean they can’t do something now.
That point, while understandable, is just a branch of “whataboutery” and isn’t helpful in the long term.
Logically, yes, we could have them for all. But why can’t we start now with this one. Also, people and organisations are allowed to be selective about what causes they get behind.
Everyone love the Mercy skin. Great cause. No one complained and said anything about other cancers and diseases.
I mean, logically it actually is. Supporting peace in one particular war all while other wars are going on this very moment, would be biased and selective at best, and greedy and opportunistic at worst. Imagine how you feel if you’re a Syrian Overwatch player and suddenly you see Blizzard doing things in support of Ukraine, all while being silent about your war and pain.
Everyone does it. I doubt many will have even given a thought to Yemen, or the Uyghurs Muslims in China, rampant persecution in India, Brazil or corruption in the UK and so many more.
You are allowed to be selective, you will care about somethings more than others. You are also allowed to stand up and say no now, even if you haven’t in the past.
Personally I don’t think they should do a skin, I think tokenism isn’t really going to help. They should however use BattleNet to have links to Red Cross, Doctors Without Borders and such organisations for you to go to and donate directly if you so wish.
As for Syria… The sanctions on Russia are by proxy a punishment for whats going on there. Seeing as it is Russia who did a bulk of the indiscriminate bombing of civilians and infrastructure (as they are doing in Ukraine).
And make it for Zarya.
That’s the thing though, it’s not about making an anti war stand even if they haven’t before, it will be them making a stand and only a stand regarding Ukraine, even if it’s something as simple as donation links like you suggested. People will ask why only Ukraine? Why not mention all the wars that are happening and say no to war in general. If they only come out in support of Ukraine while other wars are happening it won’t be a good look.
But then again this isn’t like any other war. WW1 and 2 started just like this.
But then you are purely getting into the territory of whataboutism.
The question is can we have a skin for this cause.
Otherwise where would it stop. Skins to raise money for the Indians murdered by the British Army?
All whataboutism does is deflect the conversation from what’s being asked/what’s important.
Also, link to people like I’ve suggest would help in all conflict, as those organisations are there to help people every single time.
Blizzard stood with China in the Hong Kong matter, why would anyone expect them to openly support Ukraine now?
They didn’t.
Blizzard in China are a separate autonomous business (as per Chinese law). Blizzard US had a totally different view on the matter. Although were a little limp in how they dealt with it.
No politics in games PLEASE, we’re getting overloaded with news from Ukraine every single minute of the day, mostly fake news.
A lot of fake news passed around, sadly.

Who’s reporting the fake news? Other than Russian state TV obviously
Western news media maybe? Who else? The Russian state media is banned in Europe.
