"Soft reset" for OW2? Master/GM to Plat after mostly wins placements, what is this?

Hello,

I just finished winning my 7 games out of 10 (70% win rate) and in OW1 I’ve always been a Masters’ player and now my tier is Platinum 2.

Is this an expected behaviour? The developers said there will be a soft reset but this seems way to harsh (more than a 1k SR difference). Will this happen only for the first season or this harsh reset will happen after every season?

I also see that Kabaji, a top 500 player, was placed in Platinum 2 after completing 7 wins. It seems really strange that our tiers are the same, I’ve been playing OW almost every season so there shouldn’t be any decay happening in ranking tier placement.

People are unsure how Blizzard have gone about this soft reset.

There’s some massive changes for many players/tiers. Literally no logic to it at all.

Interested to see what mine will be like, unfortunately I’ve been working away these past couple of weeks but at least I’ve missed the massively faulted launch .

Wish they did their diligence pre-launch.

Personally a full reset of mmr would of been suitable given its a new game.

But 7 wins shouldn’t of affected you that much - logically!

you got lucky then i was plat in most my OW 1 ranks and got bronze once in the last season since crap placements

now i win 7 games in 9 drawn 2 top dps in every single game and top mitigation + sometimes top heals and i got bronze 5 for some reason this system seems uttrly broken

I went 7 and 3 I believe and got d5 from 3700.
I personally don’t care about the reset but I’ve seen reports of people going 7 and 0 after placing and not seeing any change in division. if this is true for everyone then we can safely assume that ranked is broken or they have vastly lowered the sr gains/losses making it even more of a grind.
either reason is kinda pathetic.
