Sojourn barista twitch drop

Why did Blizzard thing it was a good idea to make the Sojourn barista skin a twitch drop, while they previously had it in their store. I bought the skin for 20 euros, and I’m genuinely mad that people can actually get it for free now, and I know I’m not the only one. Does Blizzard just want people to actually stop playing Overwatch 2 or what

Most games do it. Something is on sale for a bit, then a while later it’s used as an incentive elsewhere.

FF14 does it all the time.

It’s no different to you buying a new jacket, only to see them selling it at half price a few months later.

I wouldn’t worry about it. If it you bought the skin, you obviously thought it was worth the investment at the time.

i think if they are giving free skins after people bought them, people should get an option to pick new skin for free.

I bought sombra aztec which was given free for an event, turtle d.va and cleric lifeweaver and they all going to be for free next month ;D

Not really how business works. They’ll only give it away for “free” if they get something out of it.

May I ask for an example? I’m just curious since I don’t really see that but maybe I just didn’t noticed it yet

One very recent example, they sold a mount a couple of years ago. Quite price from what I’ve been told (friend is an avid player, I’ve not touched the game in years).

Recently they did a collab with a bubble tea chain, where you could get that mount for free with purchases of drinks.

It is fairly common. The game devs are very unlikely to make something new for retail collab or twitch thing. They will just pluck something out of the archives that they think will drive some interest.

ehh… idk about that, what FFXIV does regularly is to have seasonal event quests (for Halloween, Christmas, ect) where you get items for just finishing the quests and next year those items will be added to the eShop… which sucks for players who do not want to engage with microtransactions but at least those items coming back in some way.

To come back to the topic of Overwatch 2 though, previous Battle Pass Items are lost forever if not obtained at the time.
