Solution for toxicity

Please make a system that makes toxic peoples and leavers play with each other. Make a new “currency”: salt. When somebody reports a toxic player he should receive some “salt” when the report is right. After somebody leaves, the game gives the player automatically some salt. All players should play with players with the same “salt” they have. Salt could be lowered after every 50 played matches without getting more salt.

Don’t take this the wrong way but that system isnt a bad idea at first thought but after thinking about it you could see how big of a problem it could be. The Overwatch community has shown time and time again that they will somehow screw over a perfectly good system. One example was the introduction of custom games, and know what the community did? They decided to farm lootboxes for being afk. Want another more modern example? Take the endorsement lv / reporting system for example. If your endorsement is too high(4 for example) your games will be with other lv 4’s and as a result of not many people having said lv then the waiting time for a game will be longer. This has become such a problem that higher ranks basically all agreed to stop endorsing people (there is also a service for deranking your endorsement lv to speed up search times).

So no toxicity isn’t a “problem” and it doesn’t need a solution. Its a game there is going to be toxic people and in a way a game will help you release the “toxicity”. The only way blizzard can actually help “reduce the toxicity” is to do something that fits all the needs of everyone perfectly which will not happen.

But enough said overwatch is a good game just find some friends and enjoy your time

I don’t have friends who plays the game.

I don’t know if that will lower my salt, while being ignored as supporting player.

If you do nothing wrong, you won’t get salt.

It sounds good on paper but it only works if it synergizes with the report system, which is not the case.

The Report system is fully automatic. It doesn’t matter wether the report is legit or not. Once enough Reports accumulated, a penalty is triggered.

Your suggestion would make the penalty appear much quicker. If someone is falsely reporting you, you start to spiral down into toxic hell without the chance of getting back.

Your suggestion only works if any report gets checked. Only valid reports should count. If it’s not the case, it will make the experience of the player a lot worse.

Before we can add your Idea, we have to change the report system.

Doesn’t “Salt” mean when you’re upset because you lost a game? Has the term evolved into something else like what happened with “Noob”?

There would obviously has to be alot of reports for one to start spiral to hell. Far less than what normal players could get reported falsely. I think i would be a great system.

Not if you consider this point:

If you get falsely reported, you get salt, thus you will get more “toxic players”. Those players will make your experience worse and report you as well. When you “snap” you go down even further.

Once you’re in that hole, it will be difficult to get out, no matter wether you are toxic or not.

Also, keep in mind that people report you for many different things. Some report you for harassing someone, some report you for not switching. Some report you for the most ridiculous stuff.

It’s a great systen on paper. It just doesn’t work with the current report system.

Bwuhawhawhaw…c’mon, please don’t be so naive.

I tought Blizz READS every report! my life is a lie

no room for abuse at all right there.

Nope, they only read if after you got punished automatically and you appeal to lift the penalty.

If Blizzard read every report, your idea might work.
