Sombra = support

So, in a light of roles changes, there comes the question: Damage characters are twice as many as tanks or support, so for people have more choices in char picking, should it be logical to move sombra to support, as she’s not so much about real damage, but more valuable as hacker/disabler?

Sombra not dealing any damage is a myth.

she is light on the damage but it’s not non-existent for sure…

that stealth allows her to pick her fights so she is as much an assassin one could say as widow maker is…

and if people stay as a group then she has that EMP to punish that assuming she can poke enough to get it… that will be trickier after the general ult nerf…

I feel a mistake people make is they rely too heavily on her hack instead of just shooting. Just going out of stealth very close to a target and mash her gun into their head is most often just as lethal as spending that extra second hacking the target first.

Yeah, sombra is an actual assassin. Widow basically announces to the whole server, “HEY IM OVER HERE WATCH OUT IM GONNA CLICK YOUR HEAD LEL” whenever she is picked in a match.

well that still makes her an assasin… and the same is kinda true of sombra… she does sort of announce herself… just not in a way to points back at her.

So i would say both are assasins… you have to pick out select targets and know when to engage and how to retreat before you get to much attention.

Guys, I haven’t meant that sombra is not doing ANY damage, like zenyatta or like moira, she can be deadly as these chars as well, awesome finisher, but she barely can inflict same amount of damage as widow or reaper or soldier. Still, her main abilities are hacks and emp and that fits well into support niche, isn’t it?

Sombra is a utility pick and this is the reason why she is thought as a “bad pick” in lower elos because teams arent courdinated enough to setup emp engagements or soemthing.

Sombra’s job is pretty simple.
throw a translocator on a hacked healthpack on your backline.
Go hack the other team’s mega.
Go behind them and farm emp.

And when you have it just tell your team and setup a push with it.
Declock thow your translocator into the air and as soon as you appear on the other side press q and watch their health bars go down with their hopes on holding that push.

While you are almost right, there is another, more pub-stompy way of playing her.

Simply go invis
Toss your relocator behind, but still in the air, Rein’s (or another tank you wish to hack’s) head
Turn your back toward the target
Undo your invis
Relocate so you are in the air slightly above, behind, the target
Hack the target
???
Profit.

That’s just a bandage over a bigger problem, the bigger problem being that Blizz has some obsession with releasing way too many DPS heroes and not enough tanks/supports.

If we had 2-3 more tanks and 2-3 more supports to choose from, this wouldn’t be an issue and DPS wait times would be lower. Of course at this point that’s just wishful thinking with the amount of time it takes Blizz to release heroes.
