Some hero pool questions. Your input please :D

Hello guys, I’ve been playing OW casually since open beta and
Im at roughly 600hrs played.
I havent played much competitive but my skill level should be high silver or gold.
(My main’s btag is locklight#2766 if you want to check stats)

Currently my hero pool is comprised of:

Tanks: (My main role is MT)
Winston
Reinhardt
Orisa
DVa (Started learning it recently, since I wanted a “One Size Fits All” offtank - although sometimes I used to just Offtank with Winston previously - with another MT around I was free to go for flanks more often.)

Damage:
Sombra
Symmetra
Soldier 76

Healers:
Moira
Zenyatta

My reaction speed is around 240ms.
Is this hero pool fine for climbing competitive, and for becoming better at OW/enjoyable to team up with?
Is there some glaring weakness? Am I spreading my learning time too thin (9 Heroes)?
I was considering ditching Zenyatta for Lúcio (my aim is garbage), but Harmony feels really useful on Armortanks, especially Winston/Hammond. Should I do it?

One more thing, I use double sensitivity (well, double DPI) exclusively for Winston, Reinhardt and DVa - bad idea?

As someone who often plays with bad Sombras that doesn’t sound so good to me.

Similarly counting Sym as a damage dealer won’t work that well. Though that’s just my opinion.

I’d play Pharah and McCree instead because more people know how to play with them as they’re the traditional dps so they won’t have to try to adept around your pick.

You play the necessary tanks, you’ve got soldier as dps, as healers you’ve got a main and secondary healer so in terms of your hero pool it’s all good.

I wouldn’t say that you’ve got a weakness but your hero pool is obviously that of someone who flexes something which your teammates will like but in terms of ranking up it’s the slowest way to go.

In terms of usefulness Zenyatta wins out over Lucio as his orbs are more valuable than Lucio’s ability to speed up his teammates.

In terms of ults Harmony is also a lot better than Lucio’s ult as it casts immediately and doesn’t require the user to hit the ground. It also makes people semi-invulnerable rather than giving them a shield.

It’s better that you stick with a certain dpi and play all heroes on that dpi. Otherwise you’ll have to switch your dpi which can be quite jarring for the first few minutes of playing.

Tyvm for the detailed reply  Yeah I understand your feelings about Sombra, even though I’ve played her the most out off all Heroes (around 130hrs), I still often feel I am not getting enough value. Admittedly, it has been slowly improving. I really like using characters that interact with teammates, even on the DPS slot (healstation teleporter emp)…

You mentioned the way I am trying to improve is the slowest way to climbing… What would be the “correct” way? "Onetrick"ing?

Sombra is a 0.5 DPS. I pick her only as a doomfist counter and sometimes as an anti-pirate ship. In those cases her contribution can be extremely valuable.

Below 3000SR your climbing is affected by PBSR. Your SR gain and loss is highly affected by your personal performance. It’s easier to maximise your performance as a DPS OTP. If your performance is good then after a win and a loss you might be a few SRs higher. Being a nice guy and flexing might result in bad overall performance and a few SRs lower after one win and one loss. I’ve done this, its super easy to get stuck and fluctuate around 2000SR.

The above things apply in solo queue. Most people don’t realise that a lot of variables are team dependent. This is a 6v6 game after all. Being able to team up with 2-3 good players for a few matches can increase win rate significantly. Not to mention that that way you can eliminate the need for flexing. If climbing is important for you then I highly recommend investing in team building and using the LFG tool. Solo queue is a lottery.

I’d say:
Pick a main, play it mostly. (50-60% of your time)
Spend 20-30% of your time working on your other main tanks so you stay flexible
Spend 10% to keep your D.Va sharp enough in case someone else picks main tank
Spend 10% on learning additional off tanks.
As a tank main, you will hardly ever have to pick a different role, cause in the worst case you got 3 tanks which most of the time will be an even better comp.

Most important of all though: if you want to have fun playing something else, forget those percentages.^^

It’s good to have a backup for other roles, but as long as you are not DPS, you rarely need it.
