I am not advocating some elitist stuff here but rather some SR seperated, unlockable forums that can be achieved at any time. These forums would be view able by everyone in the game, but people would only be able to comment on the post if they had achieved the rank it was posted in.
This would in my eyes serve as a great way to separate and funnel issues related to each rank into their correct settings, so Blizzard would have an easier time distinguishing issues related to a skill problem or character problem, it would allow players to actively make discussions about issues that might be present in their ranks and games, rather than get flamed and sh*t on by people completely irrelevant to the discussion, everyone could follow along if interested and would maybe serve as a good way for others to maybe learn from people who are higher ranked than themselves.
Rather than have people give their opinions on x stuff being countered by x stuff, how and why you should do this and that, when x is never present in their games or vice versa.
Cause a lot of times the forums feels like a majority speaks loudest place, where i´ve seen some of the best open division/contenders players (aka top 500) get down voted and laughed (âLearn to counter, haha lolâ) at for saying brig was broken and op at release, with their crazy amount of scrimming experience, when they in fact was completely correct.
I think this is a bad idea. This is a discussions forum, everyoneâs opinion matters, no matter what rank you have, how long youâve placed, etc. Sometimes, the best advice you get is by someone youâd never expected such advice.
Your Idea is similar to people on the forum, judging a playerâs opinion based on their rank.
This is a terrible example. Everyone complained about Brigitte at first until some players found out how to counter her. If someone doesnât know it yet (no matter what rank), someone will explain it.
It had nothing to do with countering, she was op as f*ck, same as the mercy that got released after the rework, yet we had a huge amount of people saying they didn´t need nerfs, they were gonna be under performing and so on yet it took multiple nerfs in both cases to get it to an even slightly close to balanced state.
I am not saying everyones opinion doesn´t matter, i am saying the exact opposite. That the SR seperated Forums would ideally make it so people can actually talk about issues they face in their tier, get feedback and criticism from people who has the ability to give it. I am advocating a space, where people and blizzard can learn and see from the different tiers rather than have it be filled with Forum dwellers and QP players. I mean if you don´t even compete in competetive, your opinion on balancing is not valid anymore and so on. Same for people talking about their opinions yet doesnt even touch the game. They have 100s of posts but not even close to a hundred hours in game.
Right now, no one but the i hate x character and i love mercy are getting heard on the forums, id like to actually look and see progression and strategies in the setting that is relevant. Whether you like to hear it or not a top 500 player or even GM has next to nothing to learn from a diamond or below player. Whether you would like to admit this, it still happens all the time that those exact players go on with the âJust counter em lolâ, yet have no clue that countering is not that simple, when the enemy team can play to the counters disadvantage, making countering ineffective essentially and the game becoming outplay/outskill/mirror pick.
I donât know if anything on this forum matters to blizz at all. They do have pro players to get feedback from though. Anylist and coaches as well could provide great feedback.
Apparently not. If you arenât GM/top500 your opinion is immediately invalidated because âYou are bad at the gameâ/âDo not know how to playâ.
Not to mention that regardless if the above is true or not. The developers have, through ACTION shown us that they donât care about our suggestions, opinions or the like.
Why would someone read a read only forum? I wouldnât.
Why would someone want to post in a dead forum where only a fraction of the entire playerbase can respond and the rest probably doesnât even read it?
so the GMâs and Top 500 get their own forum where us Unwashed masses do not get the privilege to participate in the discussion and we have our own forum where GMâs and Top 500s can come into our forum and participate (tell us how weâre wrong and to GIT GUD)âŚ
now if thatâs not the definition of elitism then I donât know what is⌠it ruined the raids in WoW before LFG existed and it would ruin the already threadbare forumsâŚ
It is a direct place, where you can discuss and get advice from people that are more than likely qualified to give it. Also it will allow us to seperate SR specific problems, such as âPharah is OP, Reaper is OP ETCâ. Outside of this, if you have a trouble with it, then fair, calling it elitism, cause what ? There are places where we say certain requirements allowed ? You have every opportunity to rank up and earn it yourself. I just want to be able to funnel this mess of useless advice.
OFC the point that top 500 can always post in lower ranked forums, is a fault of them having earned a higher rank, there could be made limitations, but why so ? Why not allow them to still engage in discussions with others ? We still have General and Comp ETC channels.
By the way reddit already has such separation with a more general section and more competitive-oriented section. If you still dislike how plebs can post there you can bring it with them, no? I wonder how theyâll respond to your suggestion. Or have you tried? If your goal is indeed to get advice and talk with people of your own skill level I doubt turning a wasteland(this forum) into an even bigger one is a worthy end goal.
The intention was never to remove any forums, only to add others. Why would giving the people an option to directly to communicate with specific people at bad thing, when we already have 10 others where anyone can discuss.
Thats the point, adding more options adds more separation. Like adding queue options in OW, for certain levels for example, will increase the queue times. The forum is already incredibly slow and will never pick up(US is the main one after all, not this) so adding more sections to it doesnât make any sense.
btw you did not respond to my reddit question. The forum there is structured exactly the way you want it with more serious section and less serious one. So if theyâve already done something like this and if there are already much much more people talking there why didnât you bring this issue to them?
I didn´t bring it to reddit, cause it shouldn´t be up to me to go to a 3rd party to get basic functionalities etc. Especially not if you have a direct forum, that is made for it.
Also yeah ofc there is more separation, but you could stop separating things too much, no one says that it will become more separated from adding other options, a lot of people hardly engage in the forums, many of which cause they feel it is useless to get anything from them. That is prob why they made their own separations on Reddit.
Also, why would i bring it to reddit, if they supposedly already have it and i want it here ?
Also a link to the reddit thing, never heard of it.
Yea you didnât bring it up because you donât want to be laughed at and to see your thread having only 14% upvotes or something. Then again I did not expect anything else.
Claiming that you donât even know what reddit is is pretty weak.
But hey, on the off chance you are not lying google it, search for the OW section, there are sub sections with competitive discussions you can enjoy. People there are very serious, I am sure they can appreciate your knowledge.
âClaiming i don´t even know redditâ, i said i was unaware of a SR separated forums already being present anywhere. I was asking for a link to that.
I never really used Reddit much, but i suspect, that this quote is some how aimed at using reddit ?
And if your intention was to simply mention, that /r/Comp is a thing and a casual one as well. Then why even bring that up, the same is the case for this forum with comp or general.
They are not present anywhere as far as I know. As I said if your goal is to have a serious conversation with other players who take the game as seriously as you do - that is the place. If you want further separation bring it up with them. They have the mods(here you have to sometimes wait 2 days for a mod to take action), they have the numbers(hundreds if not thousands of people at the same time) and I am sure they have the GMs.
As far as your suggestion goes - it is inane. Suppose you want only GMs and top500s to talk with each other. Fine, what about master players? I am sure you are aware that master players regularly play with GMs, right? To insinuate that their understanding of the game is so completely different you need to separate yourself from them is, as I am sure you can see, pretty silly. A 4001 SR guy and a 3999 SR guy being forced to sit on different tables silly.
But lets expand this further, suppose you say masters and GMs have a different understanding of the game than everybody else. Fair enough but what about diamond and bronze players. Do you say they have the same understanding hence why they should keep to each other? Why? Its rather obvious the game is played completely differently in those tiers. Yet they donât get this special privileged section. Let me repeat - 95%+ of the population is shown that they are not part of the elite and do not deserve to talk with the elite unless the elite decides to talk with them. Man, this will go well I am sure. What did you call it, bringing more people to the forums? Because all these 4000+ SR guys are so afraid to mingle with lower ranks, they might catch their noobness or something.
Overall - silly idea. If you made it(and bump it) only with the intention of flaunting your rank in front of this measly audience - good job. You did rile some of them up. If you are genuinely interested in something this controversial I suggest gathering more support from a place with more people. So to the reddit you go. If you are serious.
