Why am I matchmaking with bronze players who cannot aim when I am support all-star 2 and in top 500? the matchmaking doesnt even try to put me with people in my skill bracket
MMR and ranks aren’t aligned in stadium yet. That takes awhile and people don’t play the mode enough. Could be a year or so before it sorts itself out.
It’s frustrating me up to the point of quitting this game. You solo queue all the way up to All-Star - do your stinking best - and you get matched to people with barely 2 to 3 hours in Stadium, let alone on their role/character. Back to Pro and no way of telling when the pain stops. And I’m by no means a legendary player but the skill level I’m encountering is no way near anything decent enough for All-Star…
This!!! It is getting so frustrating having match making issues in stadium comp, ive had players tell me it is there first time in comp and yet i am rank pro or just do no skill and because of this my rank drops down? Its beyond a joke as well as if you loose a match you loose loads of points and drop down drastically but if you win a match you gain hardly anything it makes no sense
The most ridiculous thing is that you can’t queue with your low level friend because of rank difference but you can get a bronze level who has never been in stadium in your lobby. This is utterly broken. Also nobody can convince me that a 10 losing streak after getting to Pro/All star is nothing but intentional.
It isn’t. If they’ve not played stadium before, it’s using their core game MMR.
So they’ll start at the bottom rank, but be matched with you.
Source of this?
If this is true, anyway, it’s not even remotely fair. They should be paired as the bottom of the rank.
Devs confirmed it not long after stadium launched.
Start with core MMR. Adjust from there.
Sorry, but I can’t find any post or article about it. Can you help me?
But again, it’s not very fair or clever as a method. Why would other modes make my rank in another mode?
It sucks. But how else they going to do it.
Last thing you want is a GM player, starting stadium for the first time being put in the bottom lobbies with people who’ve never seen a keyboard before.
When more people play it for a lot longer, it’ll sort it’s self out.
Took them 7 years to have MMR mirroring ranks in core. So it’ll take time in stadium.
What? That doesn’t really make much sense. Higher ranks have less players, and winning before reaching your predicted rank awards you more points. But even if it didn’t, they have a higher chance to win so they’ll eventually rank up faster, if you put them in the lowest rank as their first game. I don’t really understand why you think that’d be a bad idea.
I’m taking this as your own prediction, but that’s not a fact.
I’m waiting for proof about the devs saying new stadium players get their mmr from other modes because, again, if that’s true then it’s pretty clear what’s the issue here.
New competitive stadium players should really not get their mmr from other modes, that’s extremely counterproductive.
Where would you get it from then.
Mate, I already told you twice: you let them start from rookie 5, the lowest rank everybody without a rank starts from in Stadium.
So you want GM players in essentially Bronze 5 lobbies…
How does that make it better?
At least this way GM players are together, just have different visible stadium ranks as they work there way up.
They have years of data to show roughly how good someone is at the game. Why would you bin it off. Stadium isn’t that different a game.
Mate, I don’t wanna sound rude but this is starting to feel like you’re deliberately trolling.
Again, GM players will rank up faster and eventually reach their own proper rank. This is because of the points you get when winning, and also because GM players have higher winning chances.
So no, I don’t want “GM players in bronze lobbies”. I want GM to start at the bottom of the ladder and actually reflect the same rank you have on stadium.
I hope this clarified it this time.
This is completely irrelevant. Who cares that GM players are together even if they don’t have a rank?
“Years of data” only if you actually have been playing all those years. If I made a new account, I’d start without a MMR. So how does that work for you?
Also, for the sake of discussion, Stadium is an entirely different mode from Overwatch, it requires a lot of different skills than the base game. Thinking someone is good at stadium just because they’re GM in the base game is, to be kind, pipe-dreaming.
Now, I don’t post much on the overwatch forums because this kind of interaction is the most frequent: someone replies just to disagree with you, without adding anything to the discussion, disproving without proof others’ takes, essentially freezing the discussion in a state where it goes nowhere.
I’ve asked you many times to prove that bit where you were saying that devs explicitly said that if you don’t have a stadium rank it takes it from the base game, but you never followed.
On the other hand, I’ve been speaking to the support, and they said this is in fact a bug, because by Blizzard rules pro ranks CANNOT match up outside of 15 divisions (so, not lower than silver 5).
So yes, if we want to fix this we need to gather informations about these issues and post them on the forums. I’ve got a couple of replay codes, I’ll open another topic later.
The classic… You disagree so I must be trolling.
They will. But people pee and moan about smurfs as it is. Your suggesting is to essentially legalise it.
For the same reason a hard MMR reset in core would be a horrific move.
The solution is simpler. Make people play 10 games of stadium quick play first to adjust the MMR before hitting ranked. But still start with core MMR.
Ultimately, GM players do start in the bottom rank. Just matched by their MMR. So that’s why you see what looks like wide ranges in stadium.
Their rank goes up faster with wins.
So. To a point it already does what you ask. Just matching with people of similar skill level to start.
That’s fine. You have to play quick play to unlock ranked anyways. So you’ll have an appropriate MMR by the time you play stadium.
Because I’m not trawling through interviews for a game mode I no longer play. And if you can’t be bothered to either, fair play. They were boring af.
Btw… 10 seconds on Google.
Dev AMA was wrong! Aaron Keller confirms Stadium uses existing MMR! : r/Competitiveoverwatch https://share.google/9EgUnRK0yyhoWM0aB
Not at all. In my eyes what’s classic is that someone who’s been asked a lot of times to clear up their own take, is now complaining about someone else feeling trolled because they’re not getting answers to the questions asked, or see nonsensical arguments in reply because “it is so”.
I didn’t call you a troll, I legitly expressed my disappointment toward how this conversation is being handled.
Is moaning about smurfs against the rules? Is there any explicit rule that forbids this?
And again, we’re facing another one of your own predictions, that look more like they’re there to invalid my argument, instead of actually making a point.
I’m unbothered by moans about smurfs and in my personal experience I’ve seen very few streamers having issues with that. But it’s also plain mathematical logic that if there are more bronze players than GM ones, that would mean that the encounters will actually be very few! Again, please, stop making arguments that have no meaning.
You do have to play 10 stadium qp before joining competitive. We already see how that’s not working either, because again bronze players are paired with pro players, and that should not happen by Blizzard rules.
And that’s, again, false. Nominally, that could be true because that’s their rank on profile, but players who never played stadium and start ranking in bronze 5 still get paired with players further than 15 divisions from their rank.
Again, this must not happen, it’s in the Stadium Competitive explanation screen and confirmed by the support service.
I’m sorry, but this is yet another reason I feel trolled. Why exactly are you talking about something you no longer play, unwilling to support your own takes unless called out multiple times, making observations on things that would not affect you and so disturbing actual players’ feedback?
At least now we finally have this piece of information, thanks for having spent those precious 10secs. Sorry, though, if I believe GM tickets from these days could be trusted much more than an 1 year old interview. Things might have changed and not being communicated.
This is Game Master Umkellxye. I completely understand how frustrating it is to deal with a persistent matchmaking bug for over a year, and I appreciate your patience in reaching out again.
Regarding the issue where Pro-tier players are being matched into lobbies with Bronze players and bypassing the Silver-minimum restriction, I must be transparent with you. Currently, our support team does not have a workaround or a direct resolution that we can apply from our end.
Because we cannot fix this loop at the customer support level, I highly recommend submitting a detailed bug report directly to our development team using this link: https://us.forums.blizzard.com/en/overwatch/c/bug-report.Sharing your specific encounter there provides our developers with critical insights needed to investigate and fix the root cause. Additionally, posting on this forum allows other community members to join the discussion, which helps our teams gauge the impact of the bug and prioritize a fix. You can also monitor the list of known active issues pinned at the top of that forum to track current major bugs.
Because I did play. It was garbage, so I stopped. I prefer to just play overwatch now, rather than some infantile gimmick mode
Oh, wow, I can even feel your resentment toward that mode now.
So, considering you’ve ignored the whole rest of my message and you’re confirming not only don’t play the mode anymore, you don’t even like it, I’m once again asking you to refrain from discussing this topic.
This, unless you intend to troll the discussion ofc. But please, don’t whine about it after.
No resentment. It was a gimmick. Didn’t hook me in, so I don’t play it.
That doesn’t change technical information.
I don’t dislike it either. I have no feelings towards it whatsoever. Just like I don’t play mystery heroes.
