Subject: Urgent: Widespread use of XIM devices and cheats harming Overwatch competitive play

Hello Blizzard Support / Overwatch Team,

I want to report a serious and ongoing problem that is ruining the competitive experience in Overwatch: the widespread use of XIM-like input devices and other cheating tools, especially at higher ranks.

I primarily play on Middle East servers, and sometimes on European servers, and the situation is the same across both regions. In the current ladder, nearly every hitscan player above Diamond 2 appears to be using XIM or similar hardware. I am not exaggerating: players who reach Master or higher without such tools are rare and often labeled “clean” just because they didn’t cheat. From my experience I only know three hitscan players above Master who play without cheating, myself included.

This has pushed me, and many others I know, to strongly dislike the game. There have been times I considered cheating as well — not because I wanted to, but because the environment felt hopeless.

Problems I see:
• The current detection and enforcement systems are not catching many cheaters. Players are finding ways to continue using devices or scripts without getting banned.

Suggested solutions:
• Improve detection by using AI/machine-learning systems trained to spot unnatural inputs or movement patterns. For example, input patterns constrained to a few fixed directions or repetitive micro-adjustments could be indicative of hardware or macro use. Even if Blizzard previously used similar heuristics, a modern ML approach could adapt to changed behaviors and configurations.
• Specifically target detection of scripted combos and automated input sequences.
• Increase transparency about anti-cheat improvements and strengthen enforcement to deter cheating at high ranks.

Please take this issue seriously — if it continues unchecked, it risks damaging the competitive integrity of Overwatch and driving players away.

Thank you for your time and attention. I’m happy to provide more details or examples if that would help.

They need to implement hardware bans, something more substantial, I feel I’m encountering cheaters every second game. I really want to enjoy this game, but it’s extremely testing. Drives are practically unplayable.
