Suggestion regarding accidental disconnections vs intentional leavers

Suggestion: the game should recognize an intentional leave from a accidental disconnection, and pause the match if a player disconnected due to bad network in ranked.

The game should send a special signal when clicking on the “leave game”/“exit to desktop” button. This would tell the server that its a intentional leave, making it the player’s fault. If the said signal is absent, the leave should be considered an accidental disconnection (be it a crash, a internet dc or something else), which is not the player’s fault.

and when the leaver return to the game during the pause, they get the same hero, ult charge and position, letting them to pick up the game right where they left off.

If they dont return in some generous time which should let them fix most problems (say 2-3 minutes), the game resumes and the match continues.

For the intentional leavers, make a new modifier called “abandoned match”. the leaver gets more rank drop, and the rest of their team get less rank drop. (or just make it a uphill battle/expected)

If I wanted to leave, I’d just unplug my router then.

I get to leave, and annoying everyone by leaving them in a pause for a period of time.

Free deranking bonus. Nice.

You can see how quickly someone would be able to abuse such a thing.

Any type of improvement around this area within a match would be welcomed. I am surprised they haven’t brought anything in to OW to better the matches and make them more fair.

If it makes them feel better, they could release a skin to celebrate the fact they’re maturing the game, it appears that is the only thing they seem to like to release these days.
