Symmetra's new teleporter: useless ability

I’ve been running a few tests with Symmetra’s teleporter. The most interesting, maybe; How often is it used.
numbers in how many players teleported per game on avg. 10 games played of each type.
The way I performed this was to disable my own key, and set up the TP as much as possible: back from spawn always, to high ground where it’s useful, and using recommended flanking routes from map-specific youtube videos.

the ranked level is just below gold.
QP with no communication.: 0,3 times avg. That’s less than 1 time per game.

Ranked(solo) with no communication: 0,6 times avg per game. I think only due to the games being longer.

QP with good communication: (as in, I suggest a plan clearly beforehand, tell them to let me know if they need a TP, and call out when I set it up.)
2,2 times avg per game.

Ranked (solo) with good communication: (as in, I suggest a plan clearly beforehand, tell them to let me know if they need a TP, and call out when I set it up.)
3,5 times avg per game.

I played many games also in 6 stack with known teammates, but didn’t log the results. My impression is that it isn’t used much there either. Why? I think, mostly, people wants to stick to the strategies they already know.

Apparently, these numbers are very low, even for the pre-requisites, and at this level.

What to do about it?
One thing in particular that is a problem: many have custom settings for each character. The interact key is only bound for the general settings. Many won’t be bothered to go into each characters settings just for the interact key, only used for TP. Why not just set it to the crouch button, like everyone already has?
OK, you will accidentally TP if you crouch when facing it up close, but that wouldn’t happen often.

Or, alternatively, give her a more useful ability.

The teleporter is easily the strongest part of new symm. Sorry to say but the problem why tele is “useless” is mainly because your low rank and new symm needs good coordination.

Then again old symm was op on low ranks. Now shes stronger on higher ranks and weaker on lower ranks.

you may be right, but I feel she’s stronger also on low ranks. only the teleport isn’t very useful.

I think its generally bc no aim vs no aim sym will win as she can hit you kinda hard without any aim (old sym) while new sym requires aim and team Koordination which is not really available in bronze. A gm tracer would always have won against sym as she has great aim and therefore dealing more dmg than sym. But i guess that’s already clear

New turrets are prolly stronger on low ranks than they used to be. Left click definitely is weaker now and right click is hard to say for lower ranks but I guess its also stronger. But the thing is left click was super strong on lower ranks combined with the shield and both ultis were useful as the new ult is kinda lackluster imo.

True her deployment shield was kinda sick as you could throw it into a hiigh noon, d. Va bomb or road ult and co. And give you that quick cover you needed. I don’t get why it’s gone

Because of rework? And tbh best thing to throw that shield was pharah ult, but yeah it had a lot of uses even outside of ults.

Sorry, not sure I understand what you mean, relating to the teleport?

You’ve clearly never dropped a teleporter in the middle of a graviton surge and gotten your team out of the killbox.

The one time i played new sym and was caught in a grav i didn’t think about the tp…

It is highly dependant on your team making good use of it. I do feel like it has potential but I’m not seeing it being utilised well by players just yet.

A soldier on high ground is a powerful thing and Sym can enable that, so in theory it has great applications.

in limited situations…

for it to be actualy a great or even just a good skill… it’s far inbetween…

i rather had the shield generator instead of the teleport
