One of blizzards ideas behind OW2 was giving each individual person a bigger opportunity to influence the outcome of the game. They did this for DPS heroes and they certainly did this for tank heroes basically making tanks dictate the outcome.
If your tank is ‘bad’ or having a bad day the game is basically lost. Whilst if your tank is doing very well you win (this is exaggerated but you get the point). This feels like it takes the outcome of the game out of other players hands. To lesser extend damage players and to a huge extend support players.
The support role is now harder than ever given you have to position yourself eminently and you also have one less tank to peel for you. It feels like you have very little influence of the games outcome as support, whilst getting punished heavily for messing up. It just doesn’t feel good to play support unlike tank.
All heroes should weigh equally in my opinion. That means tanks need dialing back and reworked around more defensive abilities whilst the support role just needs complete rework…
Tanks are having a good time. DPS are having fun and support is just frustrating. This is not the game I wanted.

Sort of…
In terms of meta is it solely dictated by the supports rn. Lucio Kiriko dictate the meta right now.
But yeah, support is a bit of meh right now. I just play Moira and go aggressive and have fun.
Just been on a losing streak straight after a winning streak… again. The pattern is far to consistent to be a coincidence. In one game we lost 3 players on the team all basically agreed the tank was braindead. They were throwing/feeding and died the same way multiple times… Overextending and/or charging alone into cut off rooms to try and fight the enemy team were the supports had no los and can’t heal them, they would just stay in these rooms fighting until they died and It’s not just a small mistake anybody can make but blatant bad plays/intentional throwing multiple times in one match…. The 5v5 mode is far too reliant on the skill of 1 tank and the matchmaking is clearly not putting equal skill opponents together.
I had the same win/loss streaks in bronze, if the consistent win/loss streaks straight after each other are a skill issue on my part and not a matchmaker issue then wouldn’t I still be in bronze ? I’m currently gold 5 but most likely will drop to silver after this card then get non braindead team mates/throwers again and rank back up, that is the consistent pattern I am experiencing. I am not hard stuck for multiple cards and generally rising but getting setback/deranks after a streak of throwers then climbing back up to beyond the rank I got demoted from.
Not sure what ranks you play but supports have a bigger impact in ow2 than they had in ow1.
For example, if the other team has a hog as a tank and you go zenyatta… The other team does not have a tank anymore! Almost same principle if they have a DVA or orisa.
Your tank can only do so much based on the performance of your supports. Meaning the performance of your tank is directly impacted by how supports perform.
That being said, supports indeed cannot make plays that dps can do or tanks (as in getting kills themselves but imo that should not be what supports are all about). But that has always been the case. Unless you want to make supports super strong such as bringing back mercy’s mass ress which revives the entire team… That would allow supports to make a big impact but then you would be making the exact same topic on the forums about supports in stead of about tanks.
I think the “issue” is that the impact of supports is less visible than the impact of tanks & dps which gives the impression that supports dont have a big impact.
But obviously you somethimes get these tank players that can only play one tank or that are completely rubbish. The idea for this is that those players should go down rankings so the rank system should solve that. If you are at the low rank as well… Then those tank players mostlikely have similar complaints about you. (Or you could argue that it is not necessarely a tank issue but a ranksystem issue)
Haha no. Supports have a big impact if you know how to play them
Definitely a rank issue mixed with tanks having the largest impact, Lets just say when I was in like bronze I would get told I was trash constantly by the players standing inside winstons bubble or behind a wall wondering why I didn’t heal them, as my rank/MMR rises and I get put into matches with plats and better players I started to get more compliments than complaints. So bronze players think I am trash, plats think ”the supports are on point”
Nobody said supports don’t have any impact but tanks have a bigger one. It is easier to throw the game as a tank than it is as a support so that tells you all you need to know.
If your Moira is going on solo flanks and dying you can still win the game, if your tank is throwing it becomes alot harder.
All true but you know how it was in OW1. If they don’t make the tanks as strong as they are… No one plays tank. Now people are playing tanks so it means it was a good change imo.
But saying supports have little influence is just not correct. Tanks have slightly more influence than dps/support but support have just as much influence as DPS. Just in a different way.
I agree “little influence” was not the correct wording. I have actually solved stalemates were the DPS couldn’t get any kills and I just said “f this, the heals are temporarily on hold” went and killed them myself with Kiriko and then the DPS not wanting to be outdone by a Kiriko stepped up. I actually agree supports and DPS are similar in influence.
The problem with tanks having the biggest influence, only having 1 of them to rely on and the impact that getting a bad one has is still a huge issue.
