The amount of simping in this game is incredible

It’s all too typical that when there is a girl on your team she immediately gets on the mic to let you know that she is in fact a girl. Then I have to witness you thirsty gamer boys start dating on the spot. It’s always “how long have you played this game,” “what’s your favorite hero,” etc… Like guys, come on. You don’t need to find out a girl’s life story when you hear a feminine voice come on the mic. I seriously doubt they’ll remember you two minutes after the game ends. Also, something else that I find unusual is when said girl messes up, dies, throws the game, it’s always “it’s not your fault,” or “nothing you could have done,” whatever.

I’m still not going to say anything rude over the mic or chat because I’m not a horrible person but I’ll totally shout to the forums over this topic. Cease your simping. It’s one of the few things left in this world that will genuinely make me cringe in a really sad way.

Haven’t encountered this, yet most likely.

Though if the game is simp infested then oof.

It is infested with a lot of the most annoying traits in people.

From the downright ridiculous to the insanely offensive.

People just need to learn to chill out and grow up.

Yeah, no. Every study into that topic shows that women are generally judged more harshly than men so the “it’s not your fault” is just your MRA-based whining and distorting of the actual truth. Yes, it is a problem that women can’t just be gamers but are constantly harrassed, but the spin you put on it marks you as quite pathetic.

That will hopefully change in the next couple of years as more women get into pro leagues and more girls use vc etc.

This entire thread explains why god doesn’t talk to us anymore.

I’ve heard the opposite, I’ve encountered plenty of people who were in voice chat and acted like that player’s opinion/argument didn’t count because it was a woman.

What do you mean?

Using the term “simp” unironically for a start.

The worst.

Hasnt happened to me on overwatch, but on discord and teamspeak before that…ever damn day…

I get it…youre a girl…thats awesome. but now we have a bunch of troglodytes salivating at the idea that if they show her their capital G Gamer skills they can curry favor and hear the lamentations of the women that will obviously transfer over in to real life.

Yea right? Why does this girl think she is allowed to talk? Why is she a nice person and say hello? We all know that only men are allowed to greet other humans.

i think op is talking about specifically identifying your gender INSTEAD of just saying hello.

Amen xDDDDDDDDDDDDDD

A thing that definitely happens, is real, and is not something OP made up to justify their attitude.

Every study what now?
How would you even conduct such a study?
If anything, I think it’s more likely that women are treated more to the extremes.
Meaning, they tend to stand out more and get more attention than your average dude-gamer.
Sometimes that attention is bad and sometimes it’s, well… I’ll call it “good” but I can imagine it being awkward and a bit somethering at times :stuck_out_tongue:

I would say that It is true that people react more extremely to women in games, but thats both ways, being aggressive and simping way to hard. for example I had some proper toxic girl in my game and half of the guys were sucking up to her so bad. she used her ult in spawn as a joke, (in comp mind you) and in a bit of frustration I told her to take the rank somewhat seriously or she should leave, I was then immediately belittled by the other teammates, called sexist, yadda yadda, all that sort of stuff. but it is true that people react extremely towards women in a negative way as well

A lot of times (English not being my mother language) I can’t really tell if the voice is of a girl or a kid so I just not care at all.

I mean, you can get a fun laugh from hearing how desperate some is. And considering that if you can come to the forums to “shout” to cease simping, you can also do it in-game.

I always have a fun laugh at how desperate some are when a girl talks in VC and no need for more conversations with that girl than what is happening in-game. Don’t care about gender, don’t care about the person, I just want to play the game and win.

Europe online gaming must be very different. I moved to the US from the UK 10 years ago, and I started playing Overwatch in summer 2017 and just stopped playing last month so around 3 years, and not once have I ever seen guys “simping” over a girl on our team. Maybe once or twice in the entire 3 years I witnessed what could be considered some innocent flirting, but that’s it.

And even if I overheard someone trying to get with someone else, it wouldn’t bother me as long as they were still playing their rolls properly. I’m not the online policeman who tells people what to do or not to do, only if they aren’t doing their job well then I’ll say something, but people can flirt or chat each other up if they want to, it’s a free world.
