Can someone please explain how come Doomfist is still a thing in this game. It doesn’t matter how much they nerf him, he’s still capable of going 1v6 and winning. His shield gain is still ridiculous and the fact he can ult while stunned or get that immunity when he’s 1 is just frustrating.
It’s dumb having a hero with only hard counters and if the dps don’t lock those counters or do their jobs, the rest are screwed.
I don’t think his abilities have a place in a game like Overwatch, but since they aren’t really gonna delete a hero, just please make him more balanced.
The stupid thing with Doom (and this came up on the PTR) is that EVERYTHING he does knocks people around and there are SO MANY HEROES who can’t do anything about that in the 1.5sec it takes for him to SLAM-SHOOT-UPPERCUT-SHOOT. And it just ISN’T FUN. And even if you ARE a hero who could feasibly stop him for a second (Flashbang, Shield Bash, etc) the chances are it’s all too quick to get the save in. If there was a sensible counter, the pros would play it!
He Slams–YOU GET KNOCKED up.
He Uppercuts–you get MF LAUNCHED.
He Rocket Punches–you die (despite him not always charging to full!)
He Ults–you die OR get booped, but probably die.
I understand the design philosophy for Doom, a brawler, a guy who is dangerous up close and needs to be able to survive. But Blizzard seem to have forgotten that heroes have to be ‘fun’ to PLAY AGAINST. And they also seem to have forgotten (and this applies to some other heroes) that overwatch is a TEAM game. How on Earth they think it makes sense for a highly mobile, 250HP hero to be able to launch himself into a fight and not only deal big damage but also GENERATE 150hp SHIELDS (despite being ON A TEAM WITH HEALERS) and ALSO completely disrupt the positioning of the opposing teams main tanks, I don’t know. But being knocked all over the place by another hero who might have as much as 400hp AS WELL AS insane damage and kill potential is stupid. LIMIT HIS BOOPS to RP and Uppercut–REMOVE BOOPS FROM SLAM AND HIS ULT.
If they’re going to balance Doomfist (realistically for OW2, I guess) then they need to remove some of his knockbacks/ups (as above) and nerf Rocket Punch. If a Doomfist wants to OHKO a target then fine, but lock his aim over time after he starts charging. After one RP bar has charged, limit mouse movement to 270*. After 2 bars have charged, limit that to 180*. After three bars have charged, limit it to 45* and at 4-bars, do not let him change the direction of Rocket Punch more than 5 degrees.
This would gradually ‘freeze’ his aim over time when Rocket Punch is charging. If he wants to use it to escape, then fine… but force him to make the decision early. It is RIDICULOUS that he can spin around freely and just decide to Rocket Punch in a COMEPLETELY DIFFERENT direction. How TF do you play around that as Ana, as Zen, or McCree or any of the other immobile heroes. This isn’t trying to deal with something every 20secs… this is EVERY 5 SECONDS!! It’s stupid.
The whole argument over Brig’s Shield Bash at 5sec (pre-nerf, which I agree with) was that you can’t play around it. The EXACT SAME can be said for Doomfist’s RP. It is so powerful and up so frequently and it is so versatile and agile that it needs reining in.
Also, I know he’s barefoot, but give him footsteps. They can be quieter than most, but the high volume of his special abilities does not give fair warning. Give everyone footsteps except Zen.
I hated the doomfist mechanics the moment he came out. Never thought it fits in Overwatch. He’s like the God of different mechanics Blizzard has been playing around with. Loads of CC, more chaos, huge mobility, one shot kills.
And it’s getting worse now that everyone knows how to play him.
“Let’s give every hero the same gun, remove all movement abilities and CC, and make the game a deathmatch!”
I thank the heavens every day that this kind of person is not in charge of game development… stop being so toxic.
Can we delete hanzo while we’re at it? A projectile hero that’s as easy to aim as Hanzo has no business one shotting 250hp heroes.
Also the game lies to us that the most dangerous you hear the loudest. Have you heart Doomfist ever, before he killed you? If you are a squishy healer in the back, and Doomfist works around the tanks/dps, you area dead. Especially in QP this is just ridiculous, frustrating and annoying.
