I’m a mid-diamond tank main on Ps4. I know I know “PS4 you must be bad.” Anyway, I was playing comp with my friend when we lose a game and I lose 25 sr even though I played well. Then we do another and we lose again in a close match where I played Brigitte. Then it looked like I lost 61sr for that game. I thought it was a bug so played some more and lost again for another 60 or so sr. I don’t know what this is but I need help figuring out why it is. And no, I don’t deserve platinum because I have been diamond 4 seasons. Please help Blizz
Same things happening to me and I don’t understand it. Had a couple of games last night with a 6.0kd and got less points because I played well and we won them games in record time (no overtime on defence and won attack in about 3 minutes.)
again… the matchmaker is a broken piece of trash…
QP and ranked… smurfs and trolls have run rampage on it and now it’s just FUBAR…
Game doesn’t reward a players skill so SR isn’t really skill rating its just a number that says “look how many good teammates this guy managed to find”
Scott mercer has explained how sr distribution and matchmaking works.
Basically, your sr distribution depends on your winchance of the match. in the game where you lost 25 sr, your winchance was below 50%. In the game where you lost 60 sr, your winchance was above 50%
This is what I feel like.
I’ve been on 3300 and 2300 too and the only difference I see is less/more toxic teammates.
The problem is the predicted win chances. They shouldn’t implement that at all. Should work exactly like in WoW arena where you easily climb fast to your current skill level. In addition they should favor wins a little bit more if they are focused on positive game experience.
Wouldn’t that cause a metronome effect?
You basically swing back and forth between fights that ate too easy and fights that are too difficult.
If you gain the same amount of SR then you would get “free points” when winning easy matches and winning hard matches wouldnt feel satisfying because you “deserve more” SR.
You wouldn’t be getting the same SR unless you fight exactly the same avg SR team all day long 2500 vs 2500, 2525 vs 2525 etc… There will be little bit harder fights and yes little bit easier fights. SR gains or losses should be based on the difference of avg team SRs and some adjustment based on your SR against your enemy team’s avg SR.
Looking back at scotts thread, that actually seems to be the case:
Whenever it wants to make a game, it calculates an expected win percentage for each team based on the SR of all the players
Apparently, only the SR of each player determines your winchance.
If that is the case then the sr system is exactly what you suggests, just a bit more complex.
The thing is, wow rating system works like a miracle. Or even better.
I don’t see why do we need a different system here. Which definately works worse than wow’s.
How exactly does the WoW rating system work?
It finds a team closest to your team’s MMR. In addition you have your own “SR”. If you play well your MMR rises faster than your own SR. Let’s say you have won 10 games in a row and your own SR is 2000. Your MMR could be 2100. It is hands down superior to what we have here.
I am beginning to suspect that there are multiple other factors in this game who dictate against whom you fight. In WoW arena you never have lose streaks of 10 games. And you NEVER go down in rating like 400.
I play in a range of 2200 - 3300. Currently hard stuck platinum. 2200 feels too easy for me. And when I play with my higher rated friends in 3300 I need to put out my best effort. And still when I play in 3300 the win % is around 50%. I main Rein btw.
This has lead me to think multiple hidden factors when deciding which team you are facing. The best part of WoW arena system is that it very quickly places you to a rating where you should be. I don’t think it is the same here.
