Hello. I want to share a story about my friend. He got muted for God knows how many months for being toxic in chat or voicechat (which is fair). But does it place him to the category of players who can be treated unjustly by the game or moderators? I’ll try to explain what I mean.
First of all, the game always tried to even the ratio of wins to losses by giving my friend bad teammates (in which “bad” stands for people who don’t do much or anything to win, while my friend have medals for gold damage, elims and etc., even on tanks, EVERY GAME, I’m not kidding!). So if he had 15 wins more than losses, then, oooh, just wait for it, here comes the big lose streak. And it doesn’t matter how hard he tries to win, it’s gonna be a loss.
And secondly, yesterday my friend got banned for 1 day. The situation was that he didn’t want to change his hero (while doing great on him, with gold medals as usual), and apparently teammates blamed their loss on his unwillingness to change and sent reports. What I get from it is that moderators didn’t even try to understand this situation and banned him just because he was already a “criminal” (muted toxic player), when actually he was one of the few (if not the only one) who actually tried hard to win, who made the biggest impact on that match. (And don’t tell me medals mean nothing, gold medal for damage means everything, it’s the great indicator of who does what in the game.) He didn’t grief, he didn’t troll-pick, I don’t understand what could’ve been the grounds for banning.
I have a feeling that the game developers think that the worst problem of Overwath is toxic players and they will make every effort to make those players’ life hell.
I’ve never had problems like his, maybe because I’m a healer main, I’m not toxic and never been muted. That, I think, adds to my point.
upd: I’m just stupid, my friend influenced me and my view on things too much… Still I think this thread is useful because of many good arguments down there.
