There no defense against report system abuse

Some one does’t like that you do not switch ? they report you.
They do not like that you one trick ? they report you.
Some one does’t like that you do not give them there hero ? they report you.

Not only do they report you they often spam the match chat to ask other team to report you also, what is done about this ? nothing even my friends get warning if never had a warning before, i do not believe however that anything is done about it.

Toxicity is even such big problem sometimes its easy to lose track on who to report and who deserves those reports, meaning a lot of valid reports are lost into nothingness as players get overwhelmed.

I don’t enjoy starting Overwatch these days getting nothing but toxic games, and being powerless to do anything about it, i should’t be fearing the system afterall i am not throwing or doing anything bad i am just a player playing this game, i am not being toxic, yet i feel limited in gameplay by these players that try to control me and its pissing me off.

Report system abuse is gameplay sabotage of fellow player and toxic behaviour, were the player that get abused by false reports gets suspended actioned, so far we hear nothing that is done about it, well known players that been suspended in the past many times had there suspensions reverted, other players however are ignored nothing being done about it, and the endorsement system makes it so if you been actioned even if due false reports you lose a endorsement level, giving toxic players even more power to control you.

When will this stop ?
What will be done about this to make it stop ?
When are report system abusers being dealt with ?

private profiles do not reduce toxic behavior, groups do not reduce it either you still play with the same players that often play solo queue, all of this is pointless unless report system abuse is dealt with.

It’s not like we get notifications like you been falsely reported x amount of times, these reports have been ignored and the players been actioned, so there is no reason at all to put trust in a system that is so easy to abuse.

Yeah, sometimes I’ll get “reported” for reasons that aren’t reportable. I’ve not had any warnings or action taken against me yet though, so from my perspective the system seems to be discounting them as erroneous as it should.

Example, earlier I joined a game and found that we had a Mercy and a Lucio player, and I’m a support main myself so I asked if either of them would switch which they didn’t, so I went Junkrat since we don’t need three healers. Doing this apparently amounted to me “throwing” the match and I got reported. So, that was annoying but I couldn’t report them back because erroneously reporting someone isn’t a reportable offence as far as I’m aware, but it’s still scummy and if the day ever comes where I get warnings or bans for this crap you can be sure I’ll kick up a fuss about it, because people definitely try to abuse the report system.

However, like I said… I have yet to receive any warnings or such so I think the system is working fine, from my perspective at least.

Friend of mine plays a lot of Mei he got warnings before no suspensions, for no reportable reasons either, and he lost level level 5 endorsement dropping to 4 over it.

I lose an endorsement every day… You lose it quick because you need to receive new endorsement to keep your level…
But at least this way you get a lot of loot boxes haha .

I never had a warning and I onetricked tracer for 130 hours and ana for 100. Before that soldier and pharah 1trick 100 100 hour …
And also Mei onetricked a season or two I think…
But again, never a warning. Even with all my DCs(200+ by now since s1 due both network and GpU issues that’s sorted now)…

It all comes down to how toxic you are, not to how much you onetrick…
If you onetrick and you’re a nice person/not completely bad I don’t think you need to be afraid.

More than that, I think the reporting system needs too much reports to give out warnings and suspension…

Well, now I have questions because it sounds like some of you are saying that erroneously reporting is a reportable offence?

So, is it legal to report someone for erroneously reporting you? Does it come under Spam or a different catagory?
How can you be sure that they actually did report you, since you only have their word to go off? Perhaps they lied in order to make you erroneously report them?

I had a google, and I couldn’t find a clear answer on this. Does anyone know what Blizz’s policy on this is?

Disclaimer: My main account was suspended. I’m not salty about it because I have more than one account and it’s also only a suspension. I’m simply here to highlight a problem with the reporting system.

Blizzard’s reporting system is being misused by many salty players as a way to punish people because they don’t like certain hero picks. It’s a system that doesn’t take into account player performance and so any player who gets salty about losing (because they’re bad at positioning and game awareness) simply reports someone they “felt” was the reason the team lost despite that person doing exactly what their role dictated.

I don’t doubt there are many players who deserve to be reported and suspended/banned but the system has a giant hole in it in that players who are trying to win get banned because of people with egos.

The reporting system needs an update that will take into account a player’s performance in the game. An update that will make the system more reliable and less based off someone’s emotional attachment to their skill rating.

So I just received a 24 days suspension after 4 french guys reported me.
They were speaking french in teamchat - I asked them to speak english for us 2 who couldnt understand french. They talked cr4p to me in french and reproted me, so right after the match my acc is locked.
I understand that blizzard is a company and their goal is to make money, this is why they don’t punish smurfs, new accounts make them money. But taking someone’s 40 eu and then banning them while they didn’t go against their code of conduct is not only mean and insulting but also illegal.
f4cc this money grinding fiesta im out for good

edit: I know that just 4 reports cannot bann you, im simply reffering this example to show how all 50 reports looks like.

You can get automated false bans like this lifted by contacting support… At least thats what they say.

Tryied that before. Their policy prevents them from removing any suspensions applied. Furthermore if you use profanity in voice chat with friends, not towards someone, just generally they will use this against you.

This was on american servers yeah?

If so, very douschey from these french players.

The reason for that is because profanity could be considered to be actually against the code of conduct:

Communication
When participating in communication of any kind (chat, voice communication, group finder), you are responsible for how you express yourself. You may not use language that could be offensive or vulgar to others.

But it seems to be a grey area because it could be rude to others. However, I reckon that if there’s a possibility, it will count.

Maybe they just try to clear any case as quickly as possible:

“You broke the code of conduct anyways soooo… case closed”

At least it seems like that for me.

Can’t they make the code of conduct more clear or at least explain, when which report is considered valid? I think explaining when you can use the report system would help a lot.

Maybe they are just trying to grind more money as fast as possible.

1.IF this is the case 60% (at least) of the players should be penalized.
2.This is not the case because in the CoC they write that abusive and insulting profanity against someone and personal insults will result in a penalty (as well as any “verbal harrassment” and I didn’t harrass anyone).

I doubt that. Given the fact that a lot of people use Blizzard’s service, it would take way too much time to go through any support ticked regarding false reports. Making it quick saves them a lot of time (but how they do it is stupid)

This would be definitely the case but the fully automated report system doesn’t care.
However, we could say that at least 60% of all support tickets would be discarded.

I really don’t like the way reports are dealt with…

If blizzard really cares about toxicity and they want to deal with reports as fast as possible, they should tell the community when exactly to report someone.

Yeah thats the only reason you got banned. 4 french guys got you banned, you did nuffing wrong. Ive been reported more than 4 times in one game never got banned. Im sure thats the only offence you have right  Well we all know its not.

I meant by making you buy new account.

Thats a tricky one. It is verry difficult for me to believe that all of th blzzrd devs have low iQ, so I would say there are motors behind everything they do. Stupid or mean, harsh businessman the result is the same: BAD SERVICE.

It is against the code to type blizzard in forums, little did you know.

No, not this one.

This code of conduct does apply to Blizzard’s whole service:

Also, regarding smurfs, I guess it’s just a coincidence to buy a smurf when getting banned. In many games, players go around penalties by buying smurfs so I doubt Blizzard has planned the concept of smurfs in their business model.

Since we already agree that the service is flawed, how could we make the service better?

“WE”, don’t have the power to make the service better, what they should do to make it better is “EDUCATION” to listen to the people, hire smart people with new ideas (young people), listening to healthy famous people of this community (streamers like xQc) and finaly stop caring about the money and the newcommers that much (that could bring them more money).

Definitely a troll. Healthy and xqc don’t go together in the same sentence.
