Personal opinion obviously, but I really hate the new Role Queue Mystery Heroes. There was a lot of fun in having unbalanced teams, going from a support and then getting tank 3 times in a row. I say either bring back the old one or make it so anyone queuing multiple roles gets any heroes FROM THOSE ROLES. Otherwise it’s just like playing regular Quick Play.
Has it replaced it or just another option alongside the usual MH?

I’ve seen it’s now permanent, but assumed it would be alongside.

calm down: the mystery hero has been moved to the arcade tab, just like in Overwatch 1.
an advantage of the new mystery hero is that it validates 100% of the weekly challenges on queues for all roles, in addition to not penalizing tanks with less HP by default.
what gives me some thoughts is “why didn’t they leave a tab dedicated to classic MH in the unranked tab?” I think… to not make the community too dispersive on which queue to do in the midst of too many game modes that can be activated. but it’s just my impression.
Didn’t think of that (mostly because I’ve not looked at the challenges since season 1). Makes some sense for that.
I still think it’s a totally unnecessary addition, but time will tell.
if I remember correctly there was a similar discussion in Kaplan’s time, on the indecision to set mystery heroes with the queue of roles precisely because of the stalemate of too many tanks/supports in the randomness.
personally I appreciate this choice, or that in any case the two modes were made available instead of totally excluding one. but it is also a symptom of how much the game suffers a lot in the management of open modes q in terms of decision-making.
Looking at it, it seems like a small test to see if people just play it anyways because it’s in the normal queue options. Rather than go arcade.
If it gets similar play time to normal MH, it would make sense to have other popular arcade modes in with QP.
No one played that mode anyway. Besides weirdoes like you. Ppl play 3v3 “every 2 days” to warm up to team fights. DM everyday for mechanics.
Not being condecending, pls explain me what is it that you are/were doing?
Just for casual players like me, launch the game, do 2/3 games, play everything in a short time and see you last week.
Casual mod for casual player, but the role queue just changed everything.
Mystery not so mystery
Absolutely hate this, the great thing was playing all the characters, now you cannot. You choose any and it means you only play support. You broke the only part of the game I regularly played and made it like the rest.
