Ticket problems

So, i recently changed my bnet tag as i’d had my old for one years.
I saw my son playing terraria and liked the name “Mourningwood”.
I thought that was really clever so i paid for a name change.
After playing for a few months, i log in and notice its been changed to Neonsatyr (i HATE this name)
I check my email and it said my name’s been reported which resulted in my name being taken away.

Obviously opened a ticket asking why as it’s not offensive and as far as i can see doesnt break any TOS.

First reply was basically " oh well, deal with it"

So i open a new ticket and express my displeasure and explain, again, how its based of a child’s game so i dont see the offense.

The reply was:

“Yes, i can see you’ve taken the name from another game, but people have reported it so we’re not going to go back on our decision”

So it doesn’t matter if the decision is wrong, once it’s made, that’s it.
Doesn’t matter if i’ve spent money to aquire that name, some weirdo online reported it for whatever reason and now I’m being punished and out of pocket ( £8, i know its not a lot but besides the point).

I don’t communicate in game, i have chat turned off most the time and only turn it on to say GG so it’s not like i even argued with someone and they did it out of spite.

Even with the support gm admitting and confirming the name’s origin, they’re just being shrugging their shoulders and refusing to help me.
Basically " yeah, you’re right sir, but i made the decision and it would be unseemly to go back on it now"

How can i escalate an issue to someone higher in the company? When i asked, they didn’t answer.
I dont think this is right, i abide by their rules and don’t communicate maliciously with other people on their platform, surely they have a obligation to treat us fairly too as paying customers?

I completely understand your frustration, and your experience sadly highlights several significant flaws in Blizzard’s moderation system. First off, the term “Mourningwood” shouldn’t be considered offensive, especially given its origin from a child-friendly game. It’s bewildering how the moderation system could so easily dismiss this context and choose to penalize you.

The lack of transparency and unwillingness to reconsider their decision, even after you provided a valid explanation, speaks volumes about the system’s incompetence. The fact that you’re also a paying customer makes this even more unacceptable. You should not have to bear the consequences of their flawed reporting system, particularly when you’re not in violation of their Terms of Service.

The response you received that they “won’t go back on their decision” simply because the name was reported, irrespective of whether it actually violates any terms, shows an absurd rigidity in their system. They seem more concerned about a single report rather than considering the satisfaction and experience of their broader player base. This approach is not only unfair but also destructive to the game’s community.

It’s deeply concerning that Blizzard’s moderation system prioritizes adhering to possibly erroneous reports over fairness and common sense. This caution - or perhaps fear - of going against any report, however nonsensical, jeopardizes the game’s integrity and disregards the concerns of their paying customers. Such a system is neither fair nor competent, and it’s high time for a revamp if Blizzard wants to maintain the trust and satisfaction of its players.

If you’re looking for ways to escalate the issue, you might consider raising it publicly through social media or gaming forums where it might attract enough attention to merit a review by someone higher up in the company. Given your experience, it’s clear that standard customer service channels have failed you, and sometimes public visibility can put enough pressure on a company to revisit their decision-making processes.

Haha what stupid woke reply that is. Just because probably one person reported it doesn’t mean it is wrong.

My god Blizzard never fail to impress me

Damn conservatives. you can name yourself „bloody massacre“ but as soon as something indicates anything remotely sexual, it’s over. Hypocrites at its finest. That’s what happens to people that don’t have sex and are grudgy my friends.

I mean it’s pretty obvious what “Mourningwood” is referencing. Doesn’t matter what the origin is, it can still be deemed as inappropriate. Just try to go for a name with less room for interpretation and you should be good to go.

Did you really just use ChatGPT for this?
