Recently I came back to Overwatch after being gone for nearly 4 years. I’ve been playing a lot this season, but the amount of hackers is absolutely absurd. So far I’ve encountered traditional hacking (as much as 6 times within 10 games). Other things are personal bots such as merci AI that just pockets people. Also seen (not personally) people that DC games that they are going to lose to prevent -SR.
I just played a game on Hollywood where I was really dominant and when enemy team reaches 2nd point on their attack, I suddenly get kicked out of the game. Only I got kicked out and for a minute or so I was unable to rejoin the match. Of course enemy team managed to push 3rd point playing 6v5. But we had a good attack previously so I was able to rejoin for the 2 other rounds and win the game. However, despite me coming back in and winning the game, I’m down 50 SR and 1 endorsement level instead of being +25 SR. I effectively lost 75 SR through this. I don’t think that this is fair. And I’m not sure of who on enemy team that did it either, my suspcions are against the Doomfist main that was having a very bad time due to my Mccree.
I’m not even sure of why I’m writing this topic. I tried finding some OW support, but that doesn’t exist. Sooo… Anyway yeah, I know this wasn’t my internet that went down, because only my bnet was down and everything else worked flawlessly. There are way too many different kind of cheats and other nasty software available for this game. And it’s quite honestly wearing on me these last few days when it has been happening so often (encountering cheats and exploits). Lots of SR lost because of it. And this one is the worst to be honest, since it’s effectively -75 SR for me and I can’t watch the replay to figure out who the hacker is for sure. But I have my suspicions it was the Doomfist OTP called “player”.

Other people experienced the same? Specifically the targeted DC. The other cheats I guess are pretty well known.
I mean i get why you’d be suspicious of cheaters but i think this is being a bit too overkill.
They can’t specifically disconnect you from the game servers unless they know exactly how you’re connected to the servers.
Which probably isn’t possible to get to know since as far i’m aware most data sent and recieved is encrypted. Would most likely also result in more players disconnecting at once.
I just quit today after I placed 300SR above bottom 500, and ran for 2 days having fun but then as I lost a few matches descended down to bottom 500 the fake connection issues just blow overboard. I get delay start; as in they throw me in the game on defense with 16 seconds to make it to the point until attack. Or they randomly freeze the sceeen during combat, and yesterday I was randomly thrown out of a game and had to reconnect and I did what you did
I ran internet explorer; quickly googled abcdefg the result game up instantly. All the while battlenet was unable to reconnect me.
It’s only comp aswell these challenge missions I have no issues, dc, or delay start at all.
So yeah it’s server issues responsible for my return to Elo hell. But on the bright side Doom Eternal is a better game if you want to understand how good you actually are at fps shooters. I suggest to everyone over watch is absolute trash in comparison to Doom Eternal.
It should technically not be possible if it is Blizzard has a major security issue.
And as far I’m aware there’s no cheat like this to be found anywhere, so it is then most likely a super-private cheat… which well tends to go public quite quickly.
An exploit like this (if it actually exists) is fixed quite quick, so just hang tight if it actually is a real thing.
Also note that other applications don’t show proper connection.
Certain applications require fewer packets to be sent and received, other things and whatever.
Playing on WiFi is already unstable as is, so if you are playing with WiFi then that is 100% the reason to why it’s happening.
I don’t play on WiFi, no. I used to be a pretty serious and somewhat high rated 4300~ player, but I’ve been busy elsewhere for ca 3 years. And ever since I came back I’ve noticed a crazy increase in hackers, and more creative hacks that aren’t as obvious as the classic aimbot or toggle. So, given my history, I am somewhat decent at determining who is a hacker and who isn’t from reviewing replays and such. Of course this is something different and invisible, but I do know DC’ing lost games to prevent SR loss is a reality.
Personal DC like this instance? Yeah, it seems far fetched even to me. But since I was a serious gamer in the past, both my equipment and connection is quite high quality. I wouldn’t be making this thread if it wasn’t just me that got DC’d. I could talk in VC for 10 seconds or so but unable to move in spawn, I was panicking asking teammates if they had any issues, which they didn’t. After ca 10 seconds I got kicked out and only bnet wasn’t working. I asked friends, both IRL local friends and people online if they had any Bnet connection issues, and they said they were playing just fine. All other services and websites was working normally. So it’s the specific nature of it that leaves me confused. Never seen this before.
Anyway, as much as I want an even more valid excuse than unintentional DC for losing 75 SR, it’s easily gained back and not the end of the world… the other reality is certainly worse, if cheaters are so refined these days they can target specific players to win. So pray I’m wrong
Edit: Same thing happened again. Always when I’m playing against shady players and we’re winning, then I get kicked out of bnet for 2 minutes. This time my team decided to leave while I was gone despite being really winnable game. It’s only me and it’s only blizzard. Everything else works fine. 2 games ago I was playing against a cheating duo. Like ragehacking type deal. This game is soooo awful. Actually killing me with these damn hackers.
Is it not fake DC, I had exactly Issue long time ago, I thought same like you, fake DC, until my internet complitly gone, then I said: , well, they stop me now". Tumorrow I call my Internet provider and I said someone hack my pc. The guys start laugh in my house, and show me that I had internet whole time, but the true problem was my cable, didn’t work properly at once stopped work at all… After I change my cable from my pc to modem, I didn’t face anymore “Fake DC”, no one hack my pc anymore, and I am fine now ^^
