I don’t think there are enough complaints in one game to get you silenced, never mind band.
Are we talking about trash talking or taunting?
I do get it why trash talking is frowned upon. It destroys the environment and makes the other player uncomfortable for the sole purpose of letting your frustration out.
Taunting, on the other hand, can be a bit tricky to judge upon. While it is used to cause negative emotions, taunting other players is a matter of mind games, provoking the enemy to execute predictable actions.
This is why I have no problem with T-bagging or Sprays. Even emotes are, fundamentally speaking, just taunts.
Yea, You probably did deserved to get banned. Trash talking just makes the community toxic and is just not needed. Plus calling people “ez” And stuff isn’t really good sportsmanship is it? Plus you literally insulted the whole community over getting you banned, When it was simply one or two people who reported you.
In General.
Don’t dirty talk back at the enemy for beating you, get good and beat the opponent.
And if you’re trash talking your own team - then you’re not be productive.
Save the Dirty Talk for the bedroom.
So I got officially banned for 2 weeks for saying things against the game/heroes.
This company is just laughable.
I will never buy a blizzard game ever again.
Well put. Especially the bedroom part
In general - don’t chat or talk at all to make sure you won’t get banned and even then you are not safe.
I’m sorry but I can see why the penalty is somewhat justified.
By talking negatively about a specific hero, especially one that might be played by a player, you are criticizing the player in an indirect way. That complaint might be actually a rant which would be considered more offensive.
Also, by ranting about something in-game, you ruin the gameplay environment for the other players, making them uncomfortable, which has been proven because you got reported for that.
If you want to rant, keep it by yourself during the game and let it our elsewhere, like on this forum.
Yes, trash talk is worthy of a ban if it’s sufficient to compel enough players to report you.
Overwatch goes by “community standards”. If the community thinks it’s toxic, it’s toxic.
U sound like a fascist.
Woah, that’s a rather bold claim.
Care to explain it?
I just think that reporting someone for ranting is somewhat justified because ranting, in general, ruins the mood in a game or conversation.
Ranting can be considered “ok” if the other players are upset about the same thing, too. Otherwise, it just causes argues if someone opposes the ranter.
Your the type of cunt that makes this game bad,
your just reporting what ever u can.
If in one game multiple people report u it can have real consequences.
one of my account is banned right now cuz i had 1 rant about bob , i joke u not it was instantly silenced.
Ok, now you are just being offensive…
Due to my personality, I’m actually the opposite, given the fact that I never get salty and I always am positive, trying to motivate the team.
If you want to know my mentality, it’s this:
I want to win but I don’t mind defeat, as long as I gave my best
Nope, I don’t and I never have. I would only report someone if someone sabotages the game. I would only report someone for chat abuse if it really is chat abuse (Death threats, for example)
I know the report system is flawed. Making it fully automatic causes it to be explaitable fairly easy.
Also, if you were ranting about “bob”, then I guess you were ranting about a player right?
Punishing you is justified because you broke blizzard’s rule of conduct:
When participating in communication of any kind (chat, voice communication, group finder), you are responsible for how you express yourself. You may not use language that could be offensive or vulgar to others.
If your rant wasn’t aimed at a player or group of players, then it’s debatable whether or not a penalty would be justified.
I never said that I report people who rant.
I said that reporting ranting people is somewhat justified.
somewhat being the key word here.
You can’t say yes for sure but you can’t say no either.
I am not even going to bother,
Somewhat doesn’t exist , you either support / dont support or your indifferent… There is no such thing as SOMEWHAT.
You made it pretty clear you support people reporting for nothing, which DO have real consequences.
Maybe blizzard should take care of all the reporters since they are the real toxic group here.
Somewhat means that it depends.
Not all rants can be considered reportable.
However, not all rants can be considered not reportable.
It always depends on the context.
We don’t know the context of the rants so we can’t determine wether the rant is reportable or not.
All we can do is suspect that there can be some cases where it could be considered a reportable offense.
It’s like a joke about a chinese person. It depends on the context wether that joke can be considered racist or not.
It always depends on the context so we can’t be absolutely sure that any rant is not reportable.
Also, there are actually 4 options: You can support, object, stay indifferent or be in doubt
I am someone who is in doubt of the situation. I don’t believe that ranting is always a reportable offense yet I also don’t believe that all rants are innocent and thus no report would be justified.
I wouldn’t report you for that, but I won’t think of you as someone I’d like to be in a match with. Not because that’s insulting, but because it’s overused and dumb.
People feel safe trash talking online because there’s no consequences as they are safe behind a monitor. With report system that safety net is gone. You call others a snowflake and yet you’re the one that’s looking for a safety net in order to trash talk.
No, I’m not.
And if you can’t even criticize a game/hero then there is something wrong. And the said heroes are not ruining my gameplay environment? Because they do.
They didn’t even bother to silence me.
It’s banable here too.
I didn’t know the context of your criticism so I thought of a possible situation when criticizing someone. That argument wasn’t aimed directly at you but to criticism in general.
In fact, my argument turned out to be an example of what I said because that argument was criticizing you in an indirect way, possibly because I used the pronoun “you” or that argument had a connection with you.
You can criticize a game/hero but doing it in the said game is counterproductive. You saw yourself what happens when you do that.
Also, you are reffering to a game design issue that is ruining the gameplay enviroment which is not equal to behaviour issues.
A player ruining the fun by expressing negative expressions is worse than a flawed game design ruin the fun, because the player didn’t buy the game for “hearing someone getting angry” but to play a “game, even if it’s flawed.”
It depends on how you convey it. If your rant is vulgar, offensive or considered a troll, then yes, it’s bannable because you break the forum’s code of conduct.
However, if you keep your rants civil and allow room for discussion, then there’s nothing to worry about. After all, this is a discussion forum where everyone can share their own opinion.
I said something against a hero and someone felt offended by someone insulting their main.
No, you can not as you can see. You are both saying you can but you can’t as well.
No, it’s not. I rather have someone insult me than having a broken hero in the game. This is what actually counts - GAMEPLAY and not whatever insult an anon player says on the internet.
the keyword in my statement is “in the said game”. Doing it elsewhere (like on this forum) is completely ok (as long you follow the code of conduct)
You rather have someone insult you than having a broken hero in the game but you are not everyone, which is the main problem of reporting someone for an abusive chat:
Whether something is abusive chat is highly subjective and not clearly defined. People can get extremely offended over something that you consider harmless. And the fully automated report system doesn’t make it any better.
If no one monitors the report, you can hardly see which reports are legit and which ones might be because of oversensitivity.
