No, you can do it wherever you want. There is no rule that you can’t. Freedom of speech.
And this is terrible when you think about it. People could just block, mute or disable chat if they are so thin skinned and can’t handle a few words, which are not even aimed at them.
It’s just snowflakes who get triggered by everything, which is a minority but already enough to get anyone banned.
I don’t understand why there isn’t a button that you can use to mute and block someones chat? I mean this would solve all problems, no need to report for bad words. One click and you can’t see him chatting anymore.
You can report him if he actively disrupts the gameplay, which ruins the gameplay but if he is still playing after the rant, where is the problem?
I haven’t said that you can’t do it. I said that it’s not recommended, claiming that it’s rather counterproductive.
You can do whatever you want as long you accept the consequences.
But to be fair, these consequences are way too harsh and unfair in some cases.
I can understand that chat abuse is reportable since you can hurt people verbally. But the line between harmless bashing and actual verbal abuse is way too blurry, causing nothing but a counterproductive conflict in the community.
One thing is definitely clear: the game needs to have a mute and silence function and it has to be highlighted so everyone knows that this function exists.
And how do you know someone is a smurf? We’ve all encountered the eerily good 12th level player who is almost certainly a smurf, but it could just be someone who is naturally very good. FWIW, I don’t think it’s even a bannable offense by Blizzard, they are cool with smurfing as they have confidence in their MMR system to group people well.
The key is to not be openly insulting. Yesterday I got fed up with having poor teammates 3 times in a row and typed in chat “holy crap, you guys are one of the worst players I’ve seen” . It is not openly insulting, I don’t use slurs, I don’t swear, I speak from the heart. They could report me of course, anybody could, but getting in trouble for saying something like this is very very unlikely.
So you expect us to change our entire standard of polite acting because you can’t control yourself under adrenaline because you want to beat some strangers in a video game online?
First off, I don’t know what kind of attitude you have when speaking to people? Is it:
Please just stop sitting back so much follow us ffs
OR
Okay then are you just going to keep playing Reaper and be useless the entire game? Go play QP and stop holding us in plat
There’s a difference between a harsher attitude and harassing certain players for whatever reason because you want to win.
Hello OP, I read your comments. Whilst it must suck to have that happen I personally would say that it’s better to be doing competitive play with people you know and trust as in friends on here who understand your temperament on voice and other nuances this can help massively with the issue if you have that kind of understanding with people you know,
I have played with a group of friends with whom I have a good rapport on voice because they like my enthusiasm for the game and the matches I am in and they love my commentary and I also give info bursts on enemy movements and changes when they happen I also swear like a trooper but because the team knows it’s not offensive and have played with me for some time they accept it and a lot of the time it makes them laugh.
The issue from my stand point for you is that if you went into that mode with strangers they probably assumed the worse of you because they did not know you and thus you got reported for it. A shame that’s happened not so much you need a break but you need to find some people who get you on voice and know your not being offensive and want to do that kind of mode with you and have fun with the commentary you do as well.
Hi, a bit unrelated; but can somebody tell me if the hide/un-hide in-game chat feature (shft+ctrl+C) is local to the game client? OR is it that everytime shft+ctrl+C is pressed a command is sent to the server to hide or un-hide the chat window.
Well, consider lucky, apparently as long as you run with 4-5 ppl trolling on purpose, you cannot even dare to criticize them, or you will just get a mass report for beeing “toxic”, i think blizzard cares too much about kids playing this game, “toxicity” is like feminism, a huge BS.
Don’t dare to call an emote spam reinhardt “r3tarded” or you are toxic lel
.How ppl could play without ridicolous reports in 80’s 90’s ? And yet, we played nonetheless.
In 90’s games had admins in the actual game managing the community. They did their job properly, those can not even look at the logs or check if it is a real report.
I am pretty sure if you do that, lots of people will get silenced, they might have been reported before for real or not, couple of times. Well this community deserves nothing less anyway…
Yes, its exactly what i was thinking, i really would love to see how many of them would get suspended or silenced for fake’s ( not completely) throwing reports.
I never use the report system unless its a clear attempt to sabotage a certain game, never experienced real toxicity in ow. Just random inducting salt attempts. Which is part of the game anyway
Gameing in the 80s was only pvp and it took 2 players to be in the same room there was no online gaming anonymity and gaming wasn’t targetted for 12 year olds like overwatch is.
In the 90 personally i was to poor to buy a pc and i had to play in online caffes and boy was that the golden era of gaming for me, the 90 really started the online gaming world and everything was so new, people didnt know what meta and such is since no one cared make or watch videos about the set game and everyone played in there own way, thats why gaming was fun in the past.
the hard blizzard balance style that kills some hero and makes others a monster for a season or two, this will ofc lead to the players likeing the set nerf hero to get more toxic vs the game just by default.
Now people think they are the best palyer after watching a video like “1 hanzo tip vs every hero” or “meta pick this and play that cause this pro people are doing it”
So you just basically said 90% of the players are uselless in ranks below like Masters?! couldn’t agree more xD No hate against those players, but them using voice chat other than for joining and: “Switch pls switch widow…widow pls switch” “take heal play tank im good genji” and so on is just not happening in like don’t know 95% of the time. Don’t know when I had the last guy on the Team that actually called.
And before you go raging on me with" WHY DON’T YOU CALL YOURSELF THEN?" Well, because I am palying on the EU Servers and noone listens anyways, because everyone knows what to do and is better than you…
Welcome to the world of Solo-Queue
Want to update and say that even though I haven’t really played any comp this season, I have tried LFG a lot for QP practice and people are a lot more talkative and communicative than before. It’s a brilliant social tool that really came 2 years late but oh well, it’s here now so that’s what counts.
The reason I’m posting this is because I want to know from others in this thread if LFG has also improved your comp experience over on the EU servers? Have you all been using it much? Any noticeable changes?
