Trouble loading textures/models solution

So last night I logged into Overwatch and my character model wouldn’t load. No gun, no hands, just a blast effect on the wall when I shot it. No friendly/enemy character models and loading textures took maybe a minute. It was only 4 mins in that character models popped in but by then the game was lost (Dw, QP) and when the next game loaded the same thing happened.

I’d seen people talking about issues with the latest patch but they were mostly talking about framerates. I checked task manager and saw that disk usage was at max. Checked system updates and yep, there was a Windows update waiting to be installed. Reset my PC and logged back into Overwatch, problem solved.

In case you’re having issues with loading rather than framerates, maybe try this. Worked for me and I didn’t see anything about it.

Hello DerkestUndrd,

Thanks for posting your solution!

When models take too long to load, it’s usually because of a performance issue. Updating Windows and drivers is always important an a big cause for this kind of issue, but there are other things that can be done. I’m going to leave some troubleshooting steps here, in case any player with the same issue ends up in this thread. :relaxed:
