"Use Voice Chat" Throwers

I’ve lost a second game with teammates who INSISTED that I needed VC to call out obvious flanks (also both on Volskaya, weird). Apparently I can’t type in chat OR use in-game communication, I specifically need to go out, buy a mic and then micromanage my team’s every move. Pharah flew straight over 5 people, none of whom noticed apparently, and none of whom thought it necessary to retreat back to the objective even as it was being contested.

The first time was odd, the second time is a damn infestation. Now tbf the people in VC abusing me were a smurf and a tank deranker, so maybe it’s just the new way to troll your own team. On the bright side I still have an 80% win rate as dps this week, so I’m pretty confident that I’m not the problem.

So what is the question if you have the answers?

It’s more a PSA than a question.

No matter how we spin the situation, using a mic will always help the team do better. The flank example you gave is a perfect example. With a $5 mic, all you or anyone else would have had to do is say “Pharah’s flanking to point”. That simple. Of course there is the argument that you and other have that says “I don’t want to be in vc because people suck”, and nobody can tell you you’re wrong because your experience is yours. Which is why i always say moaning about not being in vc never works, it doesn’t change someones mind and make them join. I’ve done my fair share of moaning about it in the past.

The reality is a huge chunk of gamers in egeneral will simply not engage in vc for their own reasons, and nobody should blame them. It’s simply the nature of life, we’re all different and don’t see the value in vc the same.

The best thing Blizzard can do is actually improve on the in game communications and maybe implement an easy ping system similar to Apex Legends, so in your example, all you would have had to do is aim at the flanking Pharah and then by either using the communication wheel or a pre-defined key, you click and your team hears something like “Enemy over there”. Apex did it the best ever. You almost don’t ever need to be in vc because the ping system is so good.

That’s not really the problem though, the problem is a near-total lack of awareness that leads me to needing to call things out in the first place. Like… I sometimes joke about people playing with their monitors switched off, because it’s like they don’t see what’s happening. It’s not like I have magic eyes.

This game is full of smurfs , thorwers, derankers and toxic ppl. It’s rly not fun to play anymore.

your not wrong not fun to play anymore. cos before my friends remove each other. they keep telling me how they knew overwatch a bad game form the start it was dead. so yeah no one pros in overwatch

But depending on your positioning and what’s going on you can have a completely different perspective on the battleground.
It may be easy for you to hear and/or see the flank from where you’re standing but nearly impossible for somebody else.

The reverse is also true. That’s why we communicate and share the information we gather from our different perspectives.
Teamwork.

I underperformed in 2 games yesterday, when half of the team was not on vc and no teamplay was possible. vOv
very frustrating experience.
Sometimes, when I’m upset too much about it I’ll just Alt+F4 from those games, no matter SR penalty or tempban, really don’t care at all in a moment of rage.
