What's the logic behind making the new torb ult mechanics an ultimate?

Wouldn’t it make more sense to keep his old molten core an ult (current e ability on PTR) and just replace the old e-ablity with the new molten pools?

It’s not like before when the Molten Core would also upgrade your turret meaning you had extra firepower, hell you could even use it if you were miles away and the turret could still help the group. Now it’s just a self boost nothing more, plus the new ult has more potential in terms of crowd controlling, similar to Mei’s Blizzard ult.

I feel like a self-boost ability should be an ultimate one, even if it’s not that strong as it used to be, while a crowd control ability should be a one on a cooldown, so it had more value over time.

In a nutshell the Torb rework does two things:

  • Rebalances the Damage between Torb and his Turret.
  • Gives Torb immediate value.

Torbs turret is now pretty much 1/3 of a player (about 1/2 damage but stationary /easy to kill). Instead of the old turret which pretty much accounted for 100% of Torbs damage when he Ulted and was about 50% the rest of the time.

The removal of armor packs means you no longer have to wait until the second fight before you can add value.
