What's the point of Favor the Attacker?

I’m getting sick and tired of constantly dying when I hit Wraith Form as Reaper or ulting as Zen because someone just had to brainlessly spam LC with no thought behind it and get a kill

Where as someone who tries to bait out a shot or ability and dodge it with their ability gets shafted

How is this stupid system even fair for anyone who doesn’t have potato internet?It gets old and I’m tired of getting stunned by or killed by it. Why should no-braining take priority over a (sometimes) thought-out defensive ability use?

This system is getting old and needs to change already

PS: Reaper can get killed during the early part of Wraith Form. Please look into it Blizzard

Because if i shoot you in the head and you are not in wraithform on my screen then it should count if it was the other way around it would be alot more rage inducing imagine hitting a full pellet of shots as reaper on a zen and then after they hit he ults but he should be dead on your screen would that not make you more mad?

I agree. The other way around is more frustrating.

Favor the shooter like Ryy mentioned requires you to be in wraithform on the attackers computer to not kill the Reaper. If your playing with a high ping the server wouldn’t get the signal stating you entered wraithform fast enough although you actually made a keystroke to enter WF on your machine.

And because of this favor the shooter ends up killing you.

I’d rather know I couldn’t kill someone cause they used an ability, then I died just cause someone was just shooting, like I said

But by the time the server is aware about someone using an ability the server is told that the reaper got shot in the head.
The server then gets information stating that reaper is entering wraithform.
So what does the server understand?
A dead reaper is trying to wraithform ! :smile:

That makes 0 sense you would not know you cant kill someone because you want favor the shooter removing which means latency is all that matters if someone with 200 ping shoots me in the head with favor the shooter it still counts if you remove this then i would have 200ms to react to his shots/ultimate you think that is fair?

Not only that but can you imagine trying to track people with 100ms and no favor the shooter you would be having to lead shots haha sounds like a fun game.

At some point it’s just a matter of choice.

Either you want a casual game, and favour the shooter is good then since high latency is kind of made up for.
The drawback is that sometimes (99% of the time ?), if you dodge an ability with a tight timing, you’ll see yourself dodge, then get teleported back to your previous location and get hit, because your reaction was so clutch your opponent didn’t get information before seeing that he hit you.

If you want a game where split second reactions matter, then favour the shooter is utter garabage, for the reason detailed above.
I play on about 25 ping, and every time I dodge at last second a CC, I always get teleported back to previous location and get hit. With 25 ping, I’ve never actually been allowed to be rewarded for my reflex / anticipation.

I don’t feel like a system that rewards high latency at the depends of quick reaction is fair at all. If I play on high latency, I’m fine getting punished for it.

But as I said, it’s all a matter of choice.
Blizzard wants their game to be Esports, yet they keep a system like favour the shooter in, which shows they’re not committed 100% to one side or the other.

I think Blizzard use it because it gives your computer the equations to deal with rather than them needing to run better servers, which would cost them more money.

Apparently another reason is, 10/20% of the players have bad connections so Blizzard catered for them rather than the 90/80% of the players who have a good connection. It’s the liberal way, everyone’s a winner!

I often die as Mei when I’ve used my Ice Block ability, to the point where those kinds of abilities are tedious so I won’t use escape heroes at all because it’s frustrating. Everybody sees something slightly different on their screen yet their always right, that makes no sense to me, they could run client side and server side hit detection but they wont.
