When will they learn that focusing on "diversity" ited of the actual game is killing the game

The people that actually care about diversity dont even play this game and they are less than 1 percent of the fanbase not the player base but because they are overly toxic and cancerous they are killing the game
Its sad cause this can be a great game but now “diversity” is killing it
People dont care if a person is gay or straight black or white
What people actually care about is if a character is fun to play
But yeah listen to the rtrds saying we need “diverse characters” cause they make the game better
Sure do that instead of making character driven fun to play heroes
Its like ow isnt the most diverse game already

Companies do not care about diversity per se, they care about selling their products — adding different type of heroes is just a way to attract more paying customers, not to please and/or annoy different kind of people.

Although you may argue that pleasing is a way of coaxing more customers, there is no grand SJW conspiracy behind it, nor do they care about diversity sincerely. It’s just simply about the $$$. As soon as money changes hands they don’t care anymore.

If you “don’t care” about diversity, you shouldn’t care about literally everything you’ve just said you care about.

So, out of the 29 heroes currently available to play;

  1. 2 are confirmed LGBT

  2. 3 are robots

  3. 2 are animals

  4. 12 are female characters (not counting Orisa), 12 are male (not counting Bastion, Zen and Hammond in this)

  5. 17 countries are represented out of 195 countries in the world. The most represented is America - Soldier 76, Ashe, Mcree, Reaper were all born in America.

So when you say “Diversity is killing the game” point out where. Because this diversity is still in the minority. As far as I am concerned and from what I’ve seen in the community, people don’t pick characters based on how diverse they are they pick because of their skill set.

Blizzard is displaying a real world with their characters, they are going to be from different places, different backgrounds and they don’t just make a character for the sake of diversifying. This is such a minor problem

Nobody gives a faeces about muh diversity… that what is actually harming the game is that trends are shifting and the game isnt getting that much attention the game should have something akin of an expansion pack by now, the matchmaking system is in an abhorrent condition and completely new modes are welcome to be fair… when people come home and launch the game they just wat to play a match who cares about their background… its aslong as the kit is good.

Who’s “They”? I assume it’s the dev team so since when did they say anything about that? Are you just being racist being the new hero is black? If you don’t care why make a whole post about it?

Hey, just like how minorities and LGBT people have the right to complain that they are not represented enough I have the right to complain that they are represened too much.

This is a hero-based game. Heroes have to be distinct from one another. They have to be diverse. Diverse in game play, in abilities, in appearance (you want to judge who they are from their sillhouette) and in character. Diversity is what makes the world interesting - that’s why we have skins, that’s why we don’t wear uniforms, that’s why we are individuals and not just hive-minded hate-mongers who think that anyone who is different from us is not allowed to get any kind of representation.
Just quit your whining, you already have enough representation, don’t you? Or do you need a safe space where everyone is exactly like you?

IT’S LITERALLY TWO HEROES?? Am I on another planet or something? TOO much representation??

These groups are called minorites because of the opression they have even in this day and age. It’s brilliant that companies are now making it more obvious that there isn’t anything wrong with being LGBT or having a skin colour other than white.

We can’t use the diversity of heroes as a medium for expressing a hatred for certain lifestyles.

Did you just assume how I feel?

To my understanding approximately 10% of the population is LGBT.
With a sample size of now 30 heroes, 2 heroes being LGBT shouldn’t be that uncommon an outcome.
If blizzard were to strictly stick to the 10%, with the new addition we should have 3 heroes be LGBT. Which is also possible, as it’s not that long ago we heard about Soldier 76, so who is to say there’s not already a third we just haven’t heard about yet?

Personally i don’t really care too much about how the heroes identify themselves or their sexuality. I just want the game to be fun to play.

I actually do care about diversity and I play a lot of Overwatch.
Although, when i’m playing video games, all i’m thinking about is having fun. It makes absolutely no difference to me whether a hero is black, white, green, gay or straight - i’ll play them all.

What focus are you talking about exactly? the fact that the new hero is black? the one line in a story that implies soldier is gay? Please explain how this is A. focusing and B. affecting absolutely anything else.
Surely it’d be harder for them to explain a game where a worldwide futuristic organisation is made up of 30 straight white men aged 18-30? The diversity in game is obvious and easy to add in, there’s no effort whatsoever
