So i was discussing with my friend which Hero is harder to play, Mercy or Rein. So I want to hear what community has to say. I think Rein requires more Skill to play and is harder to master rather than Mercy but she thinks otherwise. Let me know what you think.
Your question is flawed. There are too many floating variables. Any answer will be incorrect and based upon assumptions that cannot be proven.
It takes as much skill to Heal with Reinhardt as it does to Tank with Mercy. Done.
Skill is in this game is kinda subjective. Sure you could do well solo by yourself but the teamplay aspect can effect how much skill most heroes require.
It’s like comparing a car and a motorcycle, you both use them on the road but they are clearly not the same thing (sorry I couldn’t find a better analogy).
Mechanically Mercy is a bit harder with the jump glitch but other than that they both require a very good game sense to get full value.
Sucks to say it but its Reinhardt. Its actually a fairly easy question - Mercy does not need to go on the offensive. Ever. This makes her hands down the easiest character to play because every single other one has to switch between offense and defense.
Reinhardt requires significantly more skill than Mercy. I would put this mainly down to the aspects that make a good Reinhardt good over what makes a good mercy good. While Mercy has to work on positioning and which targets to focus for healing and knowing when to swap between healing and damage, Reinhardt simply has more to understand. Firstly is shield management, a shield is so important in Overwatch as it allows a team to cause poke damage without really having to worry about taking damage yourself. But shield management is all about making sure that your shield rarely breaks, this allows it re-charge faster and you can use it if you need to. Secondly a large part of the game for Reinhardt is positioning and thus being able to communicate effectively with your team to work to provide space for your DPS or protect your supports in a composition such as GOATs. Reinhardt also has a lot of little thinks to learn such as shield hopping and hammer into firestrike into hammer or even more recently hammer swing animation cancels. I would liken this to the Mercy super bounce but that has very limited utility in comparison. Finally Reinhardt has a very game changing ultimate since it’s a large amount of CC to multiple targets but is rather easy to block by another shield or something like a Zarya bubble or Orisa’s Reinforce.
I think there is definitely a difference between a Master Mercy and a Platinum Mercy but not as much of a difference compared to a Masters Reinhardt and a Platinum Reinhardt
this is also is a question of skill level to be to be effective ranging to upper cap where you cant really learn more…
entry level on mercy is pretty low… but there is plenty of room to grow as a mercy player.
Reinhardt is fairly complex pull of well… you have to know when a charge pays of and when it’s just stupid… and when to go out swining to scare of the enemy and create space and when to hunker down with he shield and let your tream broad side the **** out of the other team… and how to manage your shield charge…
Survivability is easier on mercy over all… so not the easiest question to answer also depends on where and against who you play vs…
Also don’t fully agree with bustar mercy can be played offensivly… but it’s super situational… she is great for mercy killing… as she often sweeps around and get a great over view of the battle field so she can spot an enemy running away to find a health pack and put a blast or two in their head… and occasionally she is good for scaring of or killing a pesky widow maker if there is no d.va or similar avalible for the job… though again that is highly situational an really only worth risking if there is a second healer to take up the slack . (also like sneak up on her dont just fly out in the open or you may as well strap a big neon sign onto your forehead with the text shoot here… anyway i find it very useful to rattle widowmakers since it can help throw their aim of for a bit )
I love playing both reinhardt especially if i am paired with an orissa (since it allows me to charge my shield while whacking the heck out of people lol)
just because you can under very specific circumstances doesn’t mean it is required. Reinhardt who never attacks is worthless, Mercy who never shoots can reach GM no problem.
no your right that it’s not required but i still maintain that mercy players should actually practice their aiming for when it does come in handy…
also good if you also play D.va since it’s a very similar gun and i think a large majority of mercy players also tend to play d.va but i may be wrong i’m not sure if there is any statistics on that.
Baby D.Va’s performance depends completely on the rank. In higher ranks nobody cares what she can do, she dies instantly. In lower ranks she is immortal because nobody seems to notice her.
yeah i can imagine that is the case…
Those who forget the baby D.va are doomed to get nuked into oblivion by her.
