Who else hopes widowmaker was hypnotized instaed brainwash?

I’m big widowmaker fan, and it always bugged how she said “you didn’t know ANYTHING about him” When ana calls her husband fool someone like her. She says him, not “you don’t know anything about me”. I think it would be more cool because hypnoze doesn’t make u work against your own morals unlike brainwash, and makes her tiny bit less tragic and adds twist for story.

Hypnotized doesn’t work that way

Amélie underwent neural conditioning. Talon “broke her will and suppressed her personality”. After killing Gerard “her physiology was altered, drastically slowing her heart, which turned her skin cold and blue and numbed her ability to experience human emotion. Amélie was gone.” She was not hypnotised.

What is wrong with Amélie’s story being tragic? Her history is one I appreciate more than most. Knowing what has happened to her allows for empathy towards her, and adds depth to the character.

I am interested in learning more of Amélie’s story going forward (if Blizzard ever decide to progress the lore, that is. Sigh). I haven’t given up hope of redemption for her. The signs are there that Talon’s conditioning may be beginning to fail.

She sighs when she thinks of Gerard.
She visited his grave and left a flower.
She could have executed Lena in cold blood at King’s Row, but she didn’t. Why not?

If Amélie does break free, things will still be far from simple. Sure, Ana would most likely welcome her with open arms, but what about the other characters? Would Lena ever be able to forgive her? How will Jack react?

And then there’s Reyes. Gerard was very important to him. Does he already know that Amélie killed Gerard? If he doesn’t what will his reaction be if he finds out?

And of course Amélie will still be without Gerard.

But there is a certain Swiss field medic who knows a thing or two about bringing people back from the dead…
