Is Overwatch, a fast paced competitive first person hero shooter, cutting corners in servers? Really?
For at least 2 months, the EMEA region (which I think should be 2 regions, but that’s another topic) has only had 3 servers? From the list of available servers in custom games, only:
- Netherlands
- Finland 2
- Qatar
I have not been following all the servers that there have been, but I recall that not so long ago we had Paris and Germany and I’m not sure but Rome too, I think.
Why in a multiplayer competitive shooter the server locations have been reduced increasing the latency of many players? Low latency is equally as important as new content/balance/updates for the game to feel good.
And related to latency, why in the Netherlands server are so many middle east players. This is worse for both. Both parts suffer even when only one has high latency.
For example, in Valorant, only in EMEA there are servers in:
- Frankfurt
- Paris
- Stockholm
- Istanbul
- London
- Warsaw
- Madrid
- Bahrain
I’m not asking for that many, but at least try to cover south europe, eastern europe, and actually place players in their closest server or give the option to restrict which server we connect to.
Money, would be my guess.
Im on console eu, match after match after match i get arabic stacks, its reallyu taking the fun out of it. Most of them are ximmers, and arabic slurs

100% need the old servers back every game is a boosting arabic 5 stack. Ive also seen win trading when theres a full 5 stack ksa team. match chat is full of arabic slur. We need to be able to change region on console fix this ffs

As I said in the post, my complaint is about the location and number of servers, not about Europe and the Middle East being in the same region, which can be a problem, but let’s not mix it.
Less players than ever is my guess.
Matchmaking is horrible, out of 10 games you maybe have fun with 1, 4 you roll, 4 you get rolled, 1 goes up in flames and leavers, and the one you finally speak english (i speak 4 real languages and 2 artificial ones, gotta learn 12 more real ones to play on EU server or what) and make the team work. Mixing the whole world into EU servers doesnt help the situation tbh.
There are new games out there which are putting efford and resources in, making it a pleasent experience for everyone, even on a lost round. There is no fun in winning nor losing in most OW games in its current state. They should add a voting mechanism like in LoL, to surrender, go next. I bet 90% of the games will be surrenders. OW aint fun atm.
