Why be punished when someone else leaves by losing or getting downranked?

i want to have a talk about the leave system in competitive, cause for as far as i notice you get punished if your teammate leaves by 1. if you leave you downrank, but if your teammate leaves you also have almost no chance of winning, meaning you downrank either way. you get punished for someone else leaving in the most brutal way possible which doesnt feel fair at all

i agree it is not fair that you get downranked all because someone leaves. and you downrank so much because of it. it makes it hard to enjoy the game when you are set up for failure,

  1. You still lost the game. It sucks, but that’s factual.
  2. If your objective is improve and climb, this is just a minor bump in the road and won’t be what stops you.

The best thing to do is not over think it. Stuff happens. People leave, people position badly, waste ults, feed and on and on. Nothing you can do except keep learning how to play better and having fun.

yes i agree with you, but it does make it less fun to rank up if you know the chance of losing your progression will be done by people leaving, instead of having a fair and honest match

Trust me, having gone from bronze to touching GM. The grind isn’t fun. I wouldn’t do it again. I just chill and what will be will be now.

But, based on my experience, worrying about leavers, or that support not healing enough and all the other things people blame others for is a total waste of your time and energy.

If you just want fun matches. Focus on doing fun things and playing with friends. If you want to climb, focus on doing things better each game.
