Hi im Swedish and wonder why Brigittes new Summer games skin “Feskarn” is spelled wrong? It’s supposed to be Fiskarn, NOT Feskarn, I have no idea why Blizzard have spelled it this way.
Maybe it’s spelled like that and im just crazy but I dont think so.
Wrong.
20 characters.
Explain why? I’m not Swedish but Google translate also doesn’t seem to recognize Feskarn and it does recognize Fiskarn.
Isn’t Fiskarn a place?
But Feskarn is a fish market or something like that… And shes a fisherman… sooo.
(I am totally sure there is more detail to it, the lead designer explained it on a social platform somewhere last week)
Seems like it’s a dialect difference between Gothenburg (where Brigitte is from) and Stockholm (the standard form): the vowel /i/ may be reduced to /e/.
You still spell it the same way regardless of accent though.
Unless they were trying to type it with an accent of course. What’s that called again? I can’t remember. Either way, then you’re onto something. =P
That’s correct. “Feskarn” is the Gothenburg pronunciation. Brigitte is from Gothenburg, so the skin name is a Gothenburg slang word.
Unless they were trying to type it with an accent of course. What’s that called again?
Eye dialect.
I was thinking of phonetic spelling but “Eye dialect” sounds more accurate. Haha!
