I just don’t understand why people would like to private their accounts so we can not see their stats. If you look at my profile, you would obviously see that I have been only playing junk rat and not any other heroes. (I did start playing genji in comp and tried to improve my aim by playing as Sodlier 76.) Bloody hell, everyone is just so insecure.
Its “Private” by default, so the answer are generally these 3:
- What? i didnt know it was set like that, where is it?
- I need to hide my stats because I can’t take criticism
- I want to hide my stats because people are toxic against me because of it.
Pretty much thats it. Funny thing is that, by default, me and many others dont trust people that hide things so … it works against it purpose

I believe it has to do with the issue of people harassing others for their choice of hero.
For example, if someone mains a hero that isn’t considered meta at the time.
Personally I’m a huge advocate of private profiles, or rather the idea that people should be allowed to play want they want to play without others judging their hero choices.

thats the very reason. People mocked and mobbed fellow players about their hero picks, so blizzard decided to make them private per default.

I keep my profile private because it annoys guys like you.

Yeah I keep it private because stats mean nothing in this game because it’s all RNG and luck based…
People use stats to be toxic against you… and if you say “well I dont trust private profiles” it just means you dont trust people in general… private profile or not…
And in keeping with my own ethic of path of least resistance I might as well leave it private because either way people will find something to be toxic towards me for

Simply because it allows me to do what I like without judgement. Sometimes it’s just nice to go into quickplay and mess around on a hero you’re not as good at, or not be tied to a role (less of an issue now due to RQ) but yeah, it’s nice to have the agency to enjoy a game without the need to adhere to what everyone else thinks you should do.
I keep it privat, because when i want to play hero x, and they see that i have a few more hours on hero Y, then people demand you to switch and get very toxic… people should not watch profiles to demand others to play the hero of their choise
I once had a match where my team refused to leave the spawn until I switched to my main. (I didn’t and we lost, btw)

Had that exact thing but in opposite team refused to play unless I switched off of my main… I main bastion

imagine just wanting to have fun in your recreational time playing video games…’‘No’’ says blizzard and ‘‘NO’’ says the hardcore player who doesnt know the meaning of fun and enjoyment.

Because today I opened it for a guy curious about my rank he seen I was unranked and started to talk trash and do rank shaming, so I keep it private. If ppl are this assholes then I set it private.

Just play what You want to play and dont feel forced into the corner because you dont wanna play Hero X or Z at the moment.
As long as you dont purposely throw the game and harass your team mate for not allowing you to play the Hero of your Choice, they have no right to report you.
And if they come with if you dont play hero X I throw or they already flame you, you are allowed to report them for A Throwing and B not treating your decision with respect.
I used to hide my profile when playing ranked, only because I am not only sharing said information with my team but also with my enemy.
If somebody in my team asked me to set my profile public I did but as long as there is no “Show only for Team members” I will keep it private while playing ranked.
Which I am not doing since the season 13 I think, I placed my ACC as role queue came out and I think once in Season 18 to get enough points for another Golden Gun.
So I am pretty much public since then…
