Wouldn’t it have been better to be able to get both gold and jade weapons with the same type of currency? I just came back and used to play ranked for gold weps only and now I find that there’s no purpose because of how bad they look on any skin I already had and it makes the skins look even worse.
There’s really no player friendly reason for why they couldn’t use the same currency.
What it feels like to me is that the devs wanted everyone to work just as hard to unlock the shiny new prestige weapon skins.
If they used the same currency then the most dedicated comp players could just go shopping with their existing balance.
It’s just artificial scarcity.

Blizzard is constantly creating more problems in the game instead of solving them.
The real reason for this though is because Blizzard i think wants to keep you playing, forcefully i might add to show statistically that they are doing a good job this season.
Its not but instead of actually expanding the Overwatch universe to create more fun times and dynamics they decided to be that lazy person again and do this.
