Why i'm getting tired of overwatch and what needs to change

Hello, so recently I’ve been getting sick at the decisions that blizzard is making. From new unbalanced heroes to buffing the wrong ones, Things need to change.

This thread is going to contain a lot of writing and it’s all my personal opinions, if you disagree with any please don’t argue with me about it. It’s just my honest feeling towards the game at the current time.

Firstly, Hanzo.
Hanzo has always been an issue within overwatch his scatter arrows used to be stupid. However now the new storm arrows are ridiculous. If a mercy damage boosts him whilst he uses storm arrows they will do more damage than a normal arrow would do. This means that he can rapid fire 6 arrows, Dealing more damage than normal easily. I think the best fix for hanzo would be to either reduce the fire rate of the arrows, make them deal less damage or just revert to scatter arrows. Scatter arrows only ever killed 2 enemies, whereas these new storm arrows can easily kill 1-2

Secondly there’s brigitte. Oh god the fun I have with this hero being within overwatch. She’s brokenly op, yet blizzard decide to not nerf her but instead buff sombra. Brigitte Needs nerfing, she’s able to take out entire teams with ease. As well as this her shield bash is one of the most annoying things ever. She can shield bash anyone during anything, Stop ultimate’s and even shutdown combos. She literally is the new meta now. No matter what team you have, she will always carry. She also can’t even die most the time, if you have a zen or a mercy healing her, then put her into a crowd of enemy’s she won’t die. Her own healing will out-heal the enemies damage, making her one of the most annoying heroes to kill. She’s also good for one of the most annoying comps within the game, the stun comp. Throw in a Mcree, Doomfist and rein and boom you’ve got yourself a cancer fest which no-one can beat. Literally all my comp matches now have a brigitte and she normally ends up wiping the entire team and carrying the other one. Not only all this, She can literally solo kill a reinhardt, She’s meant to be a support, Not a dps!
Blizzard really need to focus on fixing brigitte, she is way too strong as of right now and way too easy to pick. To nerf her they could simply lower the amount of healing per hit, or just remove shield bash/Make the effect last less time.

Next up there’s moira. Moira isn’t that much of an issue it’s just the lock on damage she can do. Granted it doesn’t do much damage, combined with her orb is can kill enemies quickly. This is a simple fix, Just like sym. Don’t make it lock on, instead make it require some aim to work. Apart from that moira is okay.

Next there is Symmetra. The new symmetra is way better than the old lock on laser beam however there is just one issue. Her turrets. These things now deal so much damage and can easily be thrown behind your team. I love the times where I’m playing support and healing my team, then a sym spams three turrets behind us which normally melt through our team if their reaction speeds aren’t very high.
I think that they really shouldn’t be as strong as they are. Just take off some damage from them and you’ve easily fixed the issue

Next is the random lag spikes since the new update. I’m unsure if it’s just me getting these but I used to get 130fps with having nothing open. Since the recent update including the new sym my fps caps at around 30-60fps with nothing open. I have not touched my settings at all and it just kind of annoys me how my fps is low within team fights.

Then there’s the endorsement system. I like this feature, it’s a good thing that they’ve put into place, However I’m already starting to notice less of them going around and toxicity starting to appear again. Hopefully this was just because I got into some bad teams.

Next up is the increase in smurfs/Hackers. These types of people are the worse. Not only are they good at the game, they also decide to join your game in a lower team, wreck you, then say that “I’m not a smurf, I’ve just played other games” Or stuff such as that. Blizzard really should put a foot down on smurfs, they ruin the competitive game mode. They just come in, and make you instantly lose sr, and within gold there are a lot of them meaning that it’s difficult to escape gold.

Next up the competitive game mode. I only dislike this for two reasons, Firstly the incentive to even bother playing this game mode is to get gold guns. I’m not too happy about this, People will just carelessly hop into matches to grind for these gold guns not really caring about their Sr, while others are trying to climb their SR and losing due to these people playing it so casually. I think that they need to change the rewards for competitive so that gold guns are not locked in comps but instead for something like every 100 levels you go through. This will then leave comp to the people who play the game seriously and want to climb. Next there’s the team comps, these are usually horrible teams with 3+ dps and no support/Tank. Blizzard have basically fixed that now with the new looking for group system, However the bad team comps still purge the solo queue and they need to be stopped.

There’s also the new sombra which has unlimited invisability. This change is huge, A sombra can now literally run into the enemys defences and see what they have, Then easily run back to their own team and tell them. This gives a huge advantage as they know what they’re up against before even fighting. This also means that she can very easily get into place now to use her ultimate due to her being un-noticeable to the enemy team. She can be anywhere at any time now and there’s no way of knowing where.

Then there’s the new “Private profile system” This system is amazing for comps as it stops people from seeing who you play and make the game seem more instense, However players profiles should still be visable within a quickplay or even just in the menus, Otherwise people can literally smurf without anyone else knowing, Or just removes the aspect of status from overwatch

Finally, there’s the new hero Wrecking ball. Now I know that he’s within the PTR but giving a tank a maximum of 1.1k hp is insane! Even if it is only temporary, he can just charge into a group of enemies get his shield then charge out. Hopefully blizzard is going to change the way his shield works, Otherwise I can see him completely changing the meta due to his insane hp

So, in conclusion there is a lot that needs changing within overwatch. However, Blizzard are on track with the new systems such as the looking for groups, now all I’m hoping for is that they balance the current heroes instead of adding new ones.

You are so right… The game is broken atm and loved the first seasons but it is so screwed now

I can only comments on your “OP heroes” and “smurfs ruin the game” points, and I’m sorry to say this, but while Hanzo may still be to strong after recent nerfs (I don’t think so, but too recent) you are having problems with these heroes because you are gold. Or rather, you are gold because you are having problems playing against them. Your views on how strong Brig is, and your issues with Moira, are telltale signs that you simply haven’t learned to play against them.
Stop the defeatist thinking that they’re OP, because they’re not. Figure out how to play against them, and LISTEN to people telling you how. Most people crying about Brig refuses to listen when told how to adapt, and that’s why they’re still stuck at their rank, or falling.

Thanks for the comment, I do agree that i did go a bit overboard on the brigitte but she has drasticly changed the way that comps have played out, And to be honest she does kind of make the game not fun.There’s not much within the current game/Meta that counter her as of right now.

Plus I think myself that these new heroes are making people get stuck within gold/Drop rank. To me personally i feel as if they’ve been added to help boost the newer players or just to appeal to the newer players as an easy hero to play, Giving a false image of what overwatch really is.

5 sec stun, can stun a charging Rein, can literally outplay a hog because she tank more than him and heal on each hit… she’s fine, ok.

Hey man, I respect your post but please be less hostile about it.

They added her to allow other comps than dive, pretty much, and she can both counter or slot into a deathball depending on how you play her.

And you need to play against her differently depending on her role :slight_smile:

All the new heroes added after launch (except for ana) where a big mistake.
Why practice Hours a day when they add heroes that take seconds to master.

I am even having huge difficulty getting even 1 friend to play at this point.
But i cant blame them the new heroes just add so much frustration to the game.

And no, we dont play at gold plat or diamond. me and most my friends are M GM The game is just really unfun now for the skilled player.

hanzos damage is still broken and theses nerfs are too little considering his impact on the meta combined with his new found ease of use. as for brig shes not broken just oppressive, unfun and one of the enablers of maybe the worst meta in overwatch. moira does not have a lock-on but rather a big hitbox with visuals that make it look as if the beam locks on (if it gets you round corners its probably due to ping) plus she got a healing nerf. smurfs are getting to be a larger problem and the sombra buffs are not what she need or what anybody wanted and has come out to be a net nerf.

Hopefully the new storm arrows will reduce the damage!

I do agree that Blizzard have been buffing the wrong heroes. Sombra deserved the buff tbh, but Mei? Seriously? She was already annoying enough. And then they nerf Zen. Tracer got a well deserved nerf, Hanzo needs a nerf.

Edit: And then they buff Mcree’s deadeye, which wasn’t the problem at all.

That was the goal of Brigg. Dive was the de facto comp for the majority of the seasons, and due to this Blizzard introduced a character which changed that. Yes comps have changed, but that is not a bad thing.

There is Junkrat, Phara, pretty much any ranged character due to her needing to be close proximity to be effective.

Now I can’t say I am particularly a fan of Brigg as I feel she brings to much for the effort involved, however there are most certainly ways of countering her.

Sorry, usually I’m more patient, I’m agree on him with adaptability if someone only keep playing Genji/Tracer vs Brigitte, but when I see a tank outplayed by a support wich don’t get me wrong it may happen, but Mercy/Zen have harder time and is a skill based fight, outplayed by a Brigitte wich is a support that tank better than a tank due her selfheal on hit…

then I read that she’s fine… sorry but my eyes literally burn readin this everytime, Is like when I read that Pharah is fine and read ‘‘bro pick widow mccree soldier zen etc etc’’… but this is another matter and don’t wanna go offtopic.

It is kind of annoying how she out does even tanks sometimes, I honestly think they need to just nerf her healing slightly and it would be a valid fix

Why is Moria’s lock on so bad? It literally has the lowest DPS value out of all the primary weapons in the game, and I would argue that it needs to be a reliable damage source because she cannot heal without doing damage with it.

I’d more say that it just takes the skill out of the game due to not having to aim, They just need to make it like sym or something, Otherwises the lock-on just caters to the newer players (Like all the new heroes currently are) And just make the game un-fun. Overwatch used to actually take skill, But now with all these easy one trick heroes that don’t require aim just make it unfun and skill-less

Are you playing overwatch? She can solo kill a rein, She literally out heals his damage, Yes her mace does low damage, But it can hit up to 3 people at once, Combined with the fast speed it’s powerful as crap. Aswell as this she doesn’t really need to aim much due to the range and swing position of the mace.
